Job description

Windchill Solutions Architect – PLM Design Authority

We are looking for an experienced Windchill Solutions Architect to take ownership of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution for the Engineer-to-Order (ETO) workstream. This role will serve as the PLM Design Authority, responsible for validating the existing solution following fit-gap analysis, design sign-off, and migration completion.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on expertise in PTC Windchill, along with a solid understanding of SAP integration, engineering processes, and manufacturing workflows. The role will provide architectural direction to development teams, govern design decisions, identify solution gaps, and ensure the overall PLM solution aligns with business requirements and enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

·       Act as the PLM Design Authority for the ETO workstream, taking ownership of the Windchill solution and ensuring alignment with business and technical objectives.

·       Review and validate fit-gap analysis, business requirements, functional specifications, and solution design deliverables.

·       Drive end-to-end PLM solution governance across PTC Windchill, SAP, and related Engineer-to-Order processes.

·       Ensure seamless alignment of processes, product data, and integrations across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Contract Engineering teams.

·       Validate solution coverage for OCO workflows, OBOM Workbench, engineering data management, and predefined parts libraries.

·       Review solution architecture, integration patterns, technical designs, custom developments, and existing technical debt.

·       Provide architectural guidance and governance to Build Factory teams, ensuring implementation activities comply with approved designs and standards.

·       Identify design gaps, technical risks, dependencies, and process inconsistencies, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

·       Lead architecture reviews, facilitate design discussions, resolve technical challenges, and secure stakeholder sign-offs.

·       Serve as the primary technical and functional escalation point for PLM-related decisions and solution issues.

·       Support transition activities, knowledge transfer, testing readiness, cutover planning, and deployment governance.

·       Collaborate with global delivery teams, including offshore development teams, to ensure consistent implementation quality and adherence to solution architecture.

Required Experience and Technical Skills

·       12+ years of experience in PLM consulting, solution architecture, and enterprise product lifecycle management implementations.

·       Extensive hands-on experience with PTC Windchill, including solution design, configuration, customization, and implementation governance.

·       Proven experience leading PLM transformation, modernization, migration, or Engineer-to-Order (ETO) programs.

·       Strong understanding of core PLM capabilities, including:

o   BOM Management: EBOM, MBOM, BOM structures, and engineering-to-manufacturing alignment.

o   Engineering Change Management: ECO, MCO, change workflows, and change traceability.

o   Product Data Governance: Product structures, engineering documents, revision control, and data integrity.

o   Product Lifecycle Management: Versioning, configuration control, release management, and lifecycle workflows.

o   Configuration and Variant Management: Product configuration, variant structures, and configurable product models.

·       Experience with Windchill-SAP integrations, including data synchronization, interface design, and cross-system process alignment.

·       Ability to assess inherited solutions, validate fit-gap outcomes, review technical designs, and evaluate implementation roadmaps.

·       Strong understanding of engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain processes in complex product development environments.

·       Excellent stakeholder management, communication, workshop facilitation, and technical decision-making skills.

·       Experience working with global delivery models and coordinating with offshore development and implementation teams.

Experience in one or more of the following domains is highly desirable:

·       Elevator and vertical transportation systems.

·       Industrial equipment and machinery manufacturing.

·       Discrete manufacturing and complex product engineering.

·       Engineer-to-Order (ETO) and Configure-to-Order (CTO) environments.

Enterprise PLM implementations involving Windchill and SAP integration.
