Job Summary
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Exadata Database Administrator (DBA) to support the migration, development, and administration of various applications for the NC FAST program.
The selected candidate will lead the migration of large-scale Oracle 19c databases (100+ TB) from standard AWS environments to Oracle Exadata in AWS. This role involves optimizing, administering, and supporting Exadata platforms across development, testing, and production environments while ensuring high performance, scalability, availability, and reliability.
The DBA will collaborate with engineering and application teams to modernize database architecture, streamline data models, and implement best practices for managing mission-critical applications on Oracle Exadata within AWS.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end migration of large Oracle 19c databases (100+ TB) to Oracle Exadata in AWS, including planning, execution, cutover, and post-migration validation.
  • Design and implement Exadata-optimized database configurations, storage features, and performance strategies.
  • Manage Oracle Exadata environments across development, testing, and production.
  • Perform database schema design, data modeling, and SQL optimization.
  • Conduct advanced performance tuning using AWR/ASH analysis, indexing, partitioning, and resource management.
  • Administer high-availability and disaster recovery configurations using Oracle Data Guard.
  • Implement, configure, and manage Oracle GoldenGate replication solutions.
  • Troubleshoot performance, configuration, and availability issues across Oracle Exadata and Linux platforms.
  • Execute database backups, restores, patching, and upgrades for Exadata environments.
  • Manage Oracle ASM storage, monitor disk groups, and ensure storage availability and performance.
  • Apply Exadata storage cell, compute node, firmware, and database-level patches, including PSU, DBRU, and Release Updates.
  • Monitor database environments using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or Cloud Control.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to resolve complex database issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide weekend support as required.

  • Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization capabilities.
