Network Engineer (Wireless Operations) - Remote
We are seeking a hands-on Network Engineer with a strong operations background to support and optimize enterprise network and wireless environments. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, resolving complex issues, and proactively improving network performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and support Cisco-based network infrastructure (or equivalent).
- Troubleshoot switches, wireless access points, downstream devices, and network performance issues.
- Perform wireless site surveys, RF analysis, and Wi-Fi optimization using tools such as Ekahau Sidekick or similar.
- Assess coverage, channel utilization, and band distribution to improve user experience.
- Participate in on-call support and after-hours incident response.
- Partner with engineering teams to identify and reduce technical debt.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of network engineering or network operations experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in production environments.
- Experience with Cisco networking, switching, and wireless technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi assessments, RF analysis, or wireless optimization.
- Ability to work independently and drive issues through resolution.
- CCNA preferred.
Travel
- Remote role with approximately 1 site visit per month.
- Travel primarily to high-speed rail locations across New York, Chicago, DC, and the West Coast.
Ideal Candidate
- Has experience with on-call support and after-hours troubleshooting.
- Thrives in a hands-on, operational environment-not a typical 9-5 role.
- Takes ownership, stays calm under pressure, and has successfully resolved critical network issues.
- Demonstrates tenure stability (ideally 2+ years per role).
- Proactively identifies problems and works with engineering teams to improve network reliability and performance.
