About the RoleAs a Trainee ICT Support Assistant, you will provide frontline technical support to Council staff, helping ensure the smooth operation of computer systems, software applications, mobile devices, and network services. You will assist with troubleshooting, device deployment, user support, and maintaining ICT assets.
We are searching for a motivated and reliable Trainee ICT Support Assistant who is passionate about technology and driven to provide excellent customer service. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting and maintaining the Council's communication and technology systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesWithin the area of responsibility, this role is required to:
- Provide level 1 ICT support (resetting passwords and troubleshooting basic issues like software installation problems or connectivity issues) and manage the internal helpdesk queue.
- Assist with training, hardware and software installation and maintenance requirements.
- Liaise with Council Officers over phone or remote connection.
- Keep Council officers informed of request progress up to point of resolution or escalation.
- Perform basic hardware and software upgrades and maintenance.
- Assist with the deployment, relocation, installation and configuration of desktop and mobile computing devices and peripheral devices whilst under supervision.
- Manage stock levels of consumables, spares, and replacement equipment. Assist with Asset Management of all IT Equipment.
- Assist Team members with other tasks or project related work as required.
- Ensure ICT equipment is kept tidy, labelled and easy to find in the ICT build room.
- Assist with the packaging and disposal of E-Waste and recording details for our records.
- All assigned duties and allocated tasks are under the direction and supervision of other ICT Support Staff.
- Willingness to work out of hours as required.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Ability to undertake and satisfactorily complete relevant course of study to the essential requirements.
- Experience in a customer-facing role, providing customer service.
- The ability to provide level 1 ICT support, including password resets and troubleshooting basic software or connectivity issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work methodically and troubleshoot problems.
- A Traineeship in a local government Council can be a great way to start a successful career.

- You'll earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience on a fixed Term traineeship contract.
- 100% Council funded training including tuition fees, textbooks and related study costs.
Full time employment, working 70 hours across a 9-day fortnight. Salary from $44,746 per year (from 18 years of age) + 12 % super in accordance with Council's Salary System and the Local Government State Award.
