Sr. Software Engineer

Description
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team focused on building and enhancing backend services that support dispute management, workflow automation, and risk mitigation capabilities within a SaaS platform.
This role will contribute to key initiatives such as platform modernization, decisioning workflows, alerting functionality, and scalable service delivery. In addition to strong technical depth, this position requires sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. The ideal candidate is also highly proficient with AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code, to accelerate delivery while maintaining software quality.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services and REST APIs.
• Build and improve alerting and configurable notification capabilities.
• Partner on technical initiatives including database upgrades, integrations, scalability improvements, and containerized deployments.
• Participate in release cycles, iterative feature delivery, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentorship, and active participation in planning and requirements discussions.
• Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and shifting priorities while maintaining quality and delivery velocity.

Requirements
Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on Java backend engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and SQL.
• Experience building scalable, highly available SaaS applications.
• Strong background in REST API design and service-oriented or microservices architecture.
• Deep experience with relational databases; PostgreSQL and/or Oracle preferred.
• Familiarity with containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with complex workflows and decisioning systems.
• Proficiency with Claude Code and other AI-assisted development tools to deliver high-quality software efficiently.
• Comfortable working in fast-changing, high-velocity environments.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with strong collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Redis, Hibernate, and NoSQL technologies.
• Familiarity with Liquibase or similar schema migration tools.
