Quality Engineering Consultant

Location: Tallahassee, FL (Onsite)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineering Consultant to support enterprise software initiatives through comprehensive quality assurance, software testing, process evaluation, and continuous improvement. This role involves developing and executing test plans, validating application functionality and database processes, analyzing defects and quality metrics, and collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to ensure reliable, high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Review project requirements, business processes, functional specifications, and technical designs to determine comprehensive testing requirements.
  • Develop and execute formal test plans to validate software applications and system functionality.
  • Create, maintain, and execute detailed test cases and test scripts.
  • Participate in test automation activities and identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency.
  • Perform database testing within Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Design and manipulate test data and validate stored procedures, jobs, triggers, and replication.
  • Define, track, and analyze quality assurance metrics, including defects, test results, and test status.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate software processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitate test plan reviews, use case reviews, and testing meetings with development teams and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate tested application functionality to support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Document defects, issues, and testing results and assist development teams with resolution.
  • Collaborate with technical and business teams to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
  • Evaluate existing quality processes and recommend improvements.
  • Provide quality assurance and testing guidance to technical staff.
  • Deliver quality process training and serve as a technical quality consultant.
  • Conduct quality audits to evaluate compliance with established standards, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Research emerging technologies and evaluate their potential application to software quality and testing initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of IT and business experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Quality Assurance technical experience, including systems development, software testing, and/or related business experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of audit, assessment, or other relevant experience.
  • Experience with database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Experience designing and manipulating test data.
  • Experience validating stored procedures, jobs, triggers, and database replication.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into effective test plans and test scenarios.
  • Strong understanding of the technical aspects of software applications and systems being tested.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and how they relate to software solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automated software testing and test automation tools.
  • Experience developing and tracking QA metrics.
  • Experience facilitating test plan and use case review meetings.
  • Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Experience conducting quality audits and process assessments.
  • Experience providing QA training or mentoring to technical teams.
  • Experience identifying and implementing software quality and process improvements.
  • Familiarity with emerging software development and testing technologies.

Work Environment

  • Full-time contract
  • 100% onsite in Tallahassee, Florida
  • Collaboration with software development, technical, and business stakeholders supporting enterprise application initiatives.
