Requirements
  • 5 years or more of hands-on Workday Payroll configuration, implementation, testing, and production support experience.
  • Proficiency in Workday Payroll table structures, data relationships, calculations, earnings, deductions, taxes, and balances.
  • Experience with California public sector payroll configuration, processing requirements, and complex pay rules.
  • Experience in Workday Payroll parallel testing, reconciliation, validation, defect resolution, and go-live preparation.
  • Experience with Workday HCM, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence Management, union payroll, CalPERS, and CalSTRS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Configure Workday Payroll components and troubleshoot configuration or data-related issues.
  • Analyze payroll structures and data dependencies to identify gaps affecting calculations and processing.
  • Translate public sector payroll rules into scalable Workday configuration solutions.
  • Execute payroll testing, parallel runs, reconciliation, validation, and defect remediation activities.
  • Validate earnings, deductions, taxes, balances, and payroll calculations against defined business rules.
  • Support implementation, integration troubleshooting, documentation, knowledge transfer, and go-live readiness.
