Job Description

Position: MS Wintel System Administrator / Windows Server Administrator
Locations: Plano, TX / Charlotte, NC / Jersey City, NJ
Work Model: Hybrid 3 days onsite per week
Duration: Contract

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced MS Wintel System Administrator with strong communication, enterprise troubleshooting, and operational execution skills. The primary focus of this role is Windows OS server patching, vulnerability remediation, and Core Ancillary upgrades across a large enterprise environment.

The resource will be responsible for planning, scheduling, executing, troubleshooting, documenting, and reporting on monthly server patching activities.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a Senior Wintel/Windows Server Administrator with deep hands-on experience in enterprise server patching, BladeLogic automation, PowerShell scripting, Windows clustering, and infrastructure troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute and oversee Windows server patching during scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Perform patching using BMC BladeLogic jobs, custom scripts, and manual updates for complex systems.
  • Conduct pre-checks and post-checks to ensure successful patching and system stability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server, OS, infrastructure, and patching failures.
  • Identify network/infrastructure-related issues and coordinate remediation or escalation.
  • Develop and maintain BladeLogic scripts/jobs to automate OS patching and updates.
  • Develop automation scripts using PowerShell and VBScript.
  • Work closely with application production support, platform engineering, and Level 3 systems operations teams.
  • Manage communication and change-control activities associated with monthly patching.
  • Document and maintain operational procedures and support documentation.
  • Support vulnerability reduction initiatives across the server environment.
  • Partner closely with Global Markets client support teams and develop working knowledge of supported applications.
  • Diagnose, research, and resolve system platform-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot x86 server hardware, including IBM, HP, and Dell platforms.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of Windows Server Administration experience.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server 2008 2019 and subsequent versions.
  • 5+ years of enterprise Windows OS patching experience.
  • Hands-on experience with BMC BladeLogic for server patching and automation.
  • Strong PowerShell and/or VBScript scripting experience.
  • Experience supporting an enterprise environment with 1,500+ servers.
  • Strong understanding of network, storage, and clustering technologies.
  • Experience with Windows clustering / Failover Clustering solutions.
  • Strong server troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to automate and improve operational processes.
  • Willingness to work weekend maintenance windows when required.
