Quick Overview
Job Description
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
About the Role
Anduril's Rocket Motor Systems group is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer, Quality Systems & Quality Intelligence to join our team supporting operations across McHenry, Mississippi; West Lafayette, Indiana; and Huntsville, Alabama. The Rocket Motor Systems team designs, develops, and manufactures next-generation solid rocket motors for defense and space applications at Anduril.
As a Senior Quality Engineer focused on Quality Systems and Quality Intelligence, you will own the quality management system infrastructure that enables RMS to scale across multiple sites, programs, and customers. You are the person who ensures our QMS is not just compliant but intelligent - leveraging AI tools, data-driven insights, and scalable compliance frameworks to stay ahead of program requirements rather than chasing them. From maintaining our AS9100/IAQG certification posture to architecting modular data packages that flex across customer deliverable requirements, you will build the quality systems backbone that the rest of the RMS quality team operates within. If you are someone who thinks in systems, thrives on bringing order to complexity, and sees AI as a force multiplier for quality rather than a buzzword, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
- Create, maintain, and own the RMS compliance matrix across all programs, mapping customer contract quality requirements, regulatory obligations, and internal standards to specific QMS processes, procedures, and objective evidence ensuring nothing falls through the cracks as programs scale.
- Serve as the RMS subject matter expert for AS9100 and IAQG 9100-series standards, providing interpretation guidance, leading internal readiness assessments, and ensuring RMS operations across McHenry, West Lafayette, and Huntsville maintain consistent compliance with the quality management system.
- Evaluate and integrate quality management software, digital tools, and data platforms that enhance RMS quality system efficiency, traceability, and reporting - ensuring the QMS infrastructure scales with the growth of RMS operations.
- Evaluating, piloting, and deploying AI and automation tools across quality workflows including nonconformance trending, document generation, compliance monitoring, and predictive quality analytics - and training the RMS quality team on effective, responsible usage.
- Provide QMS oversight across all RMS locations (McHenry, MS; West Lafayette, IN; Huntsville, AL), ensuring that site-specific procedures, work instructions, and quality records are aligned to the RMS quality system and that multi-site operations do not create compliance gaps or inconsistencies.
- Support the expansion of production, development, and testing laboratory facilities by ensuring new operations, equipment, and processes are integrated into the QMS from the outset - including procedure development, training requirements, calibration programs, and document control infrastructure.
- Lead the RMS internal audit program, ensuring audit coverage meets AS9100 requirements and organizational risk priorities, and that audit findings drive meaningful corrective actions rather than paperwork exercises.
- Develop and deliver quality system training for RMS personnel - from new hire orientation on QMS fundamentals to advanced training on AI tools, compliance requirements, audit techniques, and customer-specific quality expectations building quality literacy across all functions and sites.
- Interface with external auditors (registrar, customer, and government) during AS9100 surveillance and certification audits, DCMA oversight activities, and customer quality system reviews - serving as the primary RMS point of contact for quality system inquiries and findings.
- Monitor and analyze quality system performance metrics - including audit findings, corrective action effectiveness, document control compliance, training completion rates, and customer quality escapes - translating data into management review inputs and continuous improvement priorities.
- Support Program Quality team with customer contract reviews and proposal activities by interpreting quality requirements from SOWs, CDRLs, and contract quality clauses, and translating them into actionable RMS data package configurations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing), Quality Management, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in quality systems or quality engineering, with significant experience in QMS development, maintenance, and multi-site compliance in aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated industries.
- Deep working knowledge of AS9100 (current revision) and IAQG 9100-series standards, including demonstrated experience leading or supporting AS9100 certification and surveillance audits.
- Experience building or managing compliance matrices that map customer, regulatory, and internal requirements to QMS processes and objective evidence across multiple programs.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and train others on AI and automation tools applied to quality workflows with a vision for how these technologies transform quality operations beyond simple efficiency gains.
- Experience with quality data package assembly and delivery for defense contracts, including familiarity with CDRL structures, customer-specific data requirements, and the challenge of scaling documentation across programs with different deliverable expectations.
- Proven experience managing internal audit programs, including audit planning, auditor qualification, finding classification, and corrective action tracking through to verified closure.
- Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to make quality system requirements understandable and actionable for engineers, operators, and leadership across multiple sites.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- AS9100 Certified Lead Auditor certification (or equivalent IAQG-recognized auditor qualification).
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager (CQMgr), or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).
- Familiarity with solid rocket motor systems, propulsion manufacturing, or energetic materials operations - including prior experience safely working in proximity to energetic materials.
- Experience with testing and qualification processes for aerospace or defense hardware, including knowledge of qualification test planning, data documentation requirements, and acceptance criteria development.
- Experience with DCMA interface, government source inspection (GSI), and the quality requirements that flow from DoD contracts including MIL-STD and DFARS clauses.
- Proficiency with quality management software platforms, ERP systems (e.g., Oracle), PLM tools, and document control systems used in regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting facility expansions, new site stand-ups, or production scaling where QMS infrastructure had to be built or extended to cover new operations.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, or demonstrated experience applying continuous improvement methodologies to quality system processes.
