This position requires a proven leader with experience integrating complex satellite control systems and mission-critical space systems, along with the ability to work across disciplines and organizations to deliver synchronized results.
Responsibilities:
Define the Mission-Level Outcome:
- Work with stakeholders to define the shared mission outcome, operational needs, and system-level requirements and objectives.
Lead System Architecture Development:
- Develop the system architecture by reconciling competing visions, data flows, interfaces, and technical baselines into a mission-aligned technical solution.
- Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods to define systems-of-systems architectures and ensure all requirements are traceable to system design.
- Leverage standards-based frameworks, such as the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), to develop views such as OV-1 and SV-1.
Conduct Trade Studies:
- Collaborate with Government stakeholders and internal teams to plan, conduct, and analyze trade studies required to assess alternatives in architecture, system performance, interoperability, system cost, schedule, and technical risk.
- Provide actionable recommendations informed by trade study results to enable effective decision-making by leadership.
Support Test Activities:
- Consult on test planning processes, including the development of test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
- Collaborate with Test Engineers to ensure test execution aligns with integration and mission objectives.
- Lead test witnessing and document actionable recommendations based on system performance during testing.
Facilitate Collaboration Across Teams:
- Build trusted relationships with SAIC personnel, subcontractors, Government customers, and external teams to synchronize deliverables and milestones.
- Serve as the key link between subcontractors, Government stakeholders, and internal teams to promote collaboration and resolve competing priorities.
Synchronize Mission Integration Activities:
- Manage interdependencies between projects and teams, ensuring requirements, milestones, schedules, and commitments converge in support of mission success.
- Facilitate technical interchange meetings (TIMs), trade study forums, dependency reviews, and leadership decisions.
Support Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate risks by driving decision-ready trade space discussions related to architecture, performance, cost, schedule, interoperability, and sustainment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Security Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field with fourteen (14) years or more experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant systems engineering/integration experience, particularly in the defense, aerospace, or space systems sectors.
- Proven experience integrating complex satellite systems, Satellite Control Networks (SCN), telemetry, tracking and control (TT&C), or command and control (C2) systems.
- Demonstrated success in conducting trade studies, analyzing alternatives, and providing evidence-based recommendations to guide architecture and system decisions.
- In-depth experience with capturing, analyzing, and reconciling requirements, architecture options, and technical baselines into mission-aligned solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to synchronize milestones and interdependencies across organizations with competing priorities and funding schedules.
- Strong ability to lead technical forums, cross-functional teams, and multi-organization working groups to foster collaboration and create actionable solutions.
- Ability to define and communicate integration entry/exit criteria, ownership boundaries, and responsibility matrices.
- Strong experience creating technical and integration plans and identifying risk points during integration.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of working with technical leads and program-level leaders to drive actionable project decisions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for defining systems-of-systems architectures and traceable requirements.
- Experience developing and delivering DoDAF views, including but not limited to Operational Views (OV-1, OV-2) and System Views (SV-1, SV-2) to communicate system architecture effectively.
- Past experience aligning space-ground systems, Satellite Control Networks (SCN), or other multi-program space missions, working with stakeholders to facilitate fielding and integration of mission capabilities.
