MongoDB Architect - Cloud Migration & Database Modernization with Security Clearance

This position is contingent upon contract award and position availability. This position is hybrid and based in Lanham, MD. The selected candidate will be expected to work on-site as required by the business. It requires the ability to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Facilitate the development of cross-line-of-business solutions by combining knowledge of business capabilities, value streams, and business processes. Consult with technical subject matter experts to develop technical solutions and advise on options, risks, cost-benefit considerations, and impacts on other business processes and system priorities.
• Work with the Business Development organization to assess competitive threats and opportunities from digital enterprises that fall outside the traditional realm of competition.
• Support the organization's digital strategy and approach to digital innovation and monetization through close collaboration with the Digital Solutions organization.
• Utilize a toolbox of business architecture deliverables to help business leaders identify and make informed technology investment decisions. Deliverables include, but are not limited to: business-outcome statements, strategy-on-a-page, scenario planning, business capability modeling, value-stream mapping, business process models, ecosystem modeling, customer and user profiling, journey maps, human-centric design, and investment roadmaps.
• Work with business and technology executives to articulate and clarify business and operating models. Use the organization's existing business and operating model as a starting point for innovation, such as using new technologies to enhance a specific building block.
• Seek opportunities to drive adoption of new technology and to reuse existing technology to enable business capabilities, value streams, and business processes.

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain MongoDB data architecture and database solutions supporting enterprise modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
• Deploy, configure, and manage MongoDB clusters, including replication, high availability, and sharding strategies to support scalability, resilience, and performance.
• Develop and optimize MongoDB aggregation pipelines, CRUD operations, and data-access solutions to meet business and technical requirements.
• Conduct prototyping, feasibility assessments, and risk analyses to validate solution approaches and provide recommendations for database modernization initiatives.
• Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support throughout design, development, deployment, and operations phases.
• Develop level-of-effort estimates, migration plans, technical assessments, and resource projections for database solutions and cloud migration efforts.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, developers, cloud engineers, data management teams, cybersecurity personnel, and operations staff to deliver secure, scalable, and supportable MongoDB solutions.
• Support data governance, data management, requirements development, and business analysis activities to ensure alignment with enterprise objectives and data standards.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture artifacts, migration strategies, risk assessments, and operational support materials.
• Manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver high-quality solutions and client support services using Agile methodologies.
• Follow project SDLC processes, database development standards, source-control practices, peer-review procedures, testing requirements, release controls, and documentation standards.
• Coordinate with business owners, data stewards, architects, developers, cloud engineers, database administrators, cybersecurity personnel, testers, platform administrators, and operations staff to support successful solution delivery.
• Maintain traceability from business requirements through database architecture, solution design, implementation, testing, migration activities, and final acceptance.
• Design MongoDB solutions that are secure, scalable, highly available, performant, supportable, and aligned with approved enterprise architecture, cloud, and data-governance standards.
• Use approved Agile methodologies and maintain visibility into project status, risks, dependencies, technical decisions, and delivery milestones.
• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, technical issues, recommendations, and delivery impacts clearly to technical, business, project, and executive stakeholders.

Job-Specific Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university required. An additional four (4) years of related experience may substitute for degree.
• 7+ years of related experience required.
• At least three (3) years of hands-on technical experience required.
• Ability to understand complex database concepts and work effectively in a complex data environment.
• Proactive and effective verbal and written communication skills with multi-site located team.
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
• Demonstrated success in client support.
• Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years and be Federal Tax compliant.

Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Additional Requirements per Business or Contract Needs:

• Candidates must meet requirements to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance (active IRS Moderate Risk MBI clearance is a plus).
• Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years and be Federal Tax compliant.
