Treatment Nurse

The Treatment Nurse plays an important role in protecting the health, comfort, and quality of life of our residents by providing skilled, compassionate nursing care focused on wound prevention, wound management, and other ordered treatments. This position works closely with residents, nursing staff, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to assess residents' needs, provide appropriate treatments, monitor progress, and identify changes that may require intervention.

The Treatment Nurse serves as a clinical resource to the nursing team and helps promote consistent, evidence-based practices that support healing, prevent complications, and protect each resident's skin integrity. Through careful assessment, accurate documentation, timely communication, and compassionate care, the Treatment Nurse helps ensure that every resident receives the individualized care they need to remain as healthy, comfortable, and independent as possible.

• Provide ordered treatments and wound care in accordance with resident care plans, physician orders, and nursing standards.
• Assess wounds and skin conditions, monitor progress, and identify changes requiring intervention.
  Promote skin integrity and help prevent pressure injuries, infection, and other treatment-related complications.
• Provide compassionate care that promotes resident comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
• Communicate changes in resident condition, treatment outcomes, and clinical concerns to the appropriate healthcare providers.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to support effective treatment plans.
• Participate in care plan meetings and updates related to wounds, treatments, and skin integrity.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatments, wound measurements, and resident responses.
• As a subject matter expert, provide education and guidance to staff as needed to promote consistent treatment practices.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care, skin integrity, infection prevention, and resident outcomes.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Educational/Training Requirements

• Must have attended a nursing program at an accredited college, university, or vocational school

Licensing Requirements

• Must have an active RN/LVN license in the state of Texas
• Preferred to have Wound Care Certification

Experience Requirements

• Previous experience in skilled nursing is preferred
