Welder/Fabricator Job Summary

Assemble or fabricate mechanical parts, pieces, or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications in a manufacturing organization.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create equipment and products.
• Demonstrate proficiency in GMAW and GTAW processes across aluminum, steel, and stainless steel.
• Utilize fabrication machinery safely, including press brakes, shears, and CNC plasma systems.
• Operate power tools safely, including magnetic drills, hand-held screw guns, drill guns, and grinders.
• Operate precision instruments such as calipers, weld gauges, tape measures, and other welding hand tools.
• Maintain weld machines using preventative maintenance methods and continually evaluate performance to improve cycle times.
• Create specific weldment set-ups and fixturing to meet strict geometric requirements.
• Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards, and rework/repair parts according to engineering changes.
• Collaborate productively with teammates to balance workloads, share technical expertise, and meet daily production targets.
• Exhibit high professionalism through punctual attendance, a positive attitude, and constructive communication with management and staff.

Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements

• Strict Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA, industry, and company-specific safety policies, procedures, and hazard protocols at all times.
• Mandatory PPE: Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment during working hours, including a welding helmet (with proper shade lens), safety glasses with side shields, steel-toe boots, ear protection, and flame-resistant welding jackets or sleeves.
• Equipment Inspections: Inspect all welding machines, fabrication machinery, hand tools, and electrical cords for damage or defects before operation, and immediately tag and report any faulty equipment.
• Hazard Awareness: Maintain constant awareness of the surrounding work environment, taking proactive steps to control sparks, flash, fumes, and trip hazards.
• Incident Reporting: Promptly report all near-misses, injuries, equipment malfunctions, or unsafe shop conditions to management.
• Cleanliness and Housekeeping: Keep the immediate weld station, machinery areas, and surrounding walkways clean, organized, and free of combustible materials or debris to prevent slips, trips, and fires.

Qualification requirements

• Must have at least 5 years experience

• Logistics: Must possess own reliable transportation to ensure consistent and punctual attendance for scheduled shifts
• Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED. 5 years of fabrication experience preferred. Must be able to pass a 4G plate test. Technical or vocational training/certification preferred.
• Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment while showing respect, empathy, and integrity to all teammates.
• Professional Conduct: Strong self-motivation, high attention to detail, and a commitment to representing the company professionally on the shop floor.
• Problem Solving: Ability to perform work accurately and use critical thinking/reasoning to solve problems on the line.
• Technical Literacy: Basic reading skills, ability to follow complex directions, and basic computer navigation skills.
• Equipment and Training: Willingness and ability to complete training and pass testing for forklifts, lulls, rigging and overhead bridge cranes.

• Regularly perform repetitive tasks with the manual dexterity required to assemble pieces quickly and accurately.
• Safely operate a forklift in accordance with internal traffic and safety guidelines.

Schedule and Hours

• Shift: Monday through Thursday
• Hours: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Four 10-hour shifts)

The typical base salary range for this position is between $45,000-$65,000
