Senior Software Engineer

Senior Engineer is pivotal in supporting the delivery of our Domain Strategy by driving innovation and ensuring high quality software solutions for the Search Platform squad. The role is responsible for the entire lifecycle of medium sized projects: design, development, testing, production, deployment, and post deployment fixes.

Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of medium sized projects, including engineering design, development, test, production, deployment, and subsequent fixes and improvements.
• Find solutions to unsolved, loosely defined, highly technical problems.
• Write, co write, and review documentation and production ready code that is clear, concise, tested, and easily understood.
• Identify and resolve issues quickly, balancing speed, quality, and technical debt.
• Approach work with a security lens and actively look for vulnerabilities in code and during reviews.
• Understand the big picture and system wide impact, aligning with and contributing to domain wide architecture, security, and technology standards.
• Design solutions with scalability and future needs in mind, optimizing for performance, maintainability, and security.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to ensure solutions align with business and customer needs.
• Contribute to the System Health and Tech debt backlog for owned services.
• Collaborate with Lead Engineers and Tech Leads to improve processes and system change.

Essential Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Strong experience in C#/.NET, Elastic Search or Open Search for distributed backend services.
• Experience designing software solutions for scale and high traffic customer facing services.
• Experience with a cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with cloud design patterns, modern application security practices (OWASP), shift left testing, microservices, event driven architectures.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and working in cross functional teams (Product, Design, Tech).

Nice to Have

• Hands on experience with AWS (ECS/EKS, Bedrock, IAM, networking).
• Experience with AI assisted engineering workflows and building production AI/LLM systems.
• TypeScript/Node.js for AWS Lambda and infrastructure as code (CDK).
• AWS or other cloud platform certification.
