Working within a specialised AML and Financial Crime team, you will engage with internal stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Customer functions, while also maintaining professional communication with regulatory and law enforcement authorities. The position offers significant exposure to regulatory processes and complex financial crime investigations.
The role focuses on transaction monitoring, customer due diligence reviews, suspicious activity investigations, regulatory liaison, and the continuous enhancement of AML controls, processes, and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed transaction monitoring reviews to identify potentially suspicious activity.
  • Investigate unusual customer behaviour and transactional patterns using a risk-based approach.
  • Review and respond to requests for information from law enforcement and regulatory authorities.
  • Perform complex customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence investigations.
  • Analyse customer activity to identify potential money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and other financial crime risks.
  • Prepare high-quality Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with Financial Intelligence Units and other relevant authorities when required.
  • Maintain accurate case records and investigation documentation in line with regulatory standards.
  • Support ongoing improvements to AML frameworks, controls, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to the optimisation of transaction monitoring and financial crime detection systems.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and other business areas to mitigate financial crime risks.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable AML, sanctions, and regulatory requirements.

About You

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Law, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial qualification with relevant experience.
  • Minimum four years' experience within banking, financial services, financial crime, compliance, or a similarly analytical and regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of AML, CTF, sanctions, and wider financial crime regulations.
  • Proven experience investigating complex customer activity and transaction patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with transaction monitoring and alert investigation processes.
  • Strong understanding of KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) requirements.
  • Experience preparing Suspicious Activity Reports and supporting regulatory submissions.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and apply them within operational processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging both internal teams and external authorities.
  • Excellent analytical and investigative capabilities with a highly structured approach to case management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent German and English language skills.
