Sr AI & MCP Strategist
Location: Birmingham, Alabama (Remote)
Duration: Contract Through EOY, Likely Extensions
Rate: W2 $90-$135 Per Hour
Role Overview
We are seeking a senior AI Strategy & MCP Strategist to help establish a long-term roadmap for AI adoption and enterprise knowledge management. This position will focus on defining best practices for Model Context Protocol (MCP) implementations, AI governance, trusted data access, and a scalable architecture that supports consistent outcomes across multiple AI platforms.
Key Responsibilities

• Assess current AI, analytics, and data platform capabilities across our client's environment.
• Evaluate MCP architecture, implementation patterns, and best practices.
• Review existing Performance MCP capabilities and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Develop standards for MCP architecture, data connectivity, governance, prompt design, data grounding, business logic integration, and response quality and consistency.
• Define a long-term AI roadmap supporting Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Databricks Genie, and future AI solutions.
• Evaluate data readiness across sources including Oracle, SQL Server, Denodo, Maximo, PI, SCADA, SharePoint, PDFs, and shared drives.
• Recommend what workloads belong in Databricks versus other platforms and identify opportunities for platform-agnostic AI architecture.
