Job Description
We're looking for an Highways Design Engineer to join our National Highways scheme delivery framework contract team based in Salford, Greater Manchester within the highways sector. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.
Location: Salford, Greater Manchester
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you…
- A member of a professional body, IEng / CEng status or working towards
- Competent with a strong working knowledge of civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD
- Experienced in problem solving and managing projects within highways design
- Someone with strong communication and presentation skills
- Passionate about technical competence and delivering quality work
What will you be responsible for?
As Highways Design Engineer, you'll be working within the highways design team, supporting them in producing highways designs, drawings, reports and supporting documentation for the National Highways scheme delivery framework. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful highways projects, working within a supportive and collaborative environment. Your day to day will include:
- Preparing preliminary and detailed designs in accordance with approved design procedures for local and national authorities
- Supporting the Principal Engineer on design duties including production of design schedules, drawings and Health, Safety and Welfare documentation
- Delivering technical and feasibility studies that satisfy client's technical specifications
- Conducting on site investigations and analysing data including maps, reports, tests and drawings
- Mentoring junior staff and contributing towards technical excellence and innovation across the team
