Job description

Release & Environments Manager

Remote-first, UK | Up to 70,000 + excellent benefits

An opportunity to take ownership of release management within a growing technology function, with a particular focus on Azure-based releases, deployment readiness and environment management.

This is a role for someone who understands what it takes to get technology changes safely from development through testing and into production. You’ll bring the confidence to challenge technical teams, manage release risks and dependencies, and introduce more consistent processes where needed.

You'll work across technology, testing, architecture, business teams and external suppliers, helping ensure releases are properly planned, tested, approved and delivered.

What you'll be doing

  • Own the Azure release management process, coordinating releases across development, test and production environments and ensuring deployments are properly controlled.
  • Manage release planning, schedules, dependencies and readiness, making sure teams understand what is being deployed, when and what needs to happen first.
  • Work closely with technical teams on Azure release pipelines, deployment sequencing, approvals, environment readiness and rollback planning.
  • Ensure appropriate testing, sign-offs and risk assessments are completed before changes progress into production.
  • Coordinate release activity across Azure and connected business platforms, including Dynamics 365, Microsoft Entra, Oracle and Salesforce.
  • Take ownership of release governance, identifying gaps, challenging assumptions and ensuring issues are addressed before they affect a deployment.
  • Manage environment availability, configuration dependencies and competing release requirements across multiple teams.
  • Review and improve existing release processes, documentation and controls, bringing greater consistency and visibility without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Work with third-party suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve release issues and keep delivery on track.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience managing releases within Azure environments, with a strong understanding of the release lifecycle from planning and testing through to production deployment.
  • Practical experience with Azure DevOps and release pipelines, including deployment coordination, approvals, release controls and environment management.
  • A strong understanding of release readiness, testing, change governance, dependencies, risk management and rollback planning.
  • Experience coordinating releases across multiple technical teams and environments, including complex or business-critical applications.
  • The confidence to challenge technical teams, influence decisions and make sure releases are genuinely ready to proceed.
  • Someone who can bring structure to an evolving function, improve processes and take ownership rather than simply coordinate activity.

Experience with Dynamics 365 or other enterprise business applications would be beneficial, as would experience working in a smaller or developing technology function.

The opportunity

You'll join a technology function continuing to develop its processes and capabilities, giving you the opportunity to shape how release and environment management operates rather than simply maintain an established framework.

  • Remote-first working within the UK, with some initial office attendance and occasional travel thereafter.
  • Salary up to 70,000.
  • Strong pension provision, with employer contributions of 10–15%.
  • 28 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays.

Interested? If you have strong Azure release management experience and enjoy improving how technology changes are delivered, I'd be keen to hear from you.
