The Survey Performance Lead is accountable for how survey operations are performed, governed, measured, and improved. The role owns operational procedures, competency framework governance, operational assurance, Management of Change governance, performance reporting, lessons learned, and continuous improvement across the Survey function. It supports the three-pillar Survey leadership model by maintaining the operational performance system required for safe, consistent, and repeatable delivery. The Operational Lead Survey remains accountable for client delivery, business outcomes, workforce leadership, resource utilisation, and project execution performance. The Survey Technical Authority remains accountable for technical standards, technical baselines, methodologies, equipment standards, technical assurance, and technical risk acceptance.

Primary accountability: Operational Performance Governance

  • Assess project performance and issues against survey operational procedures, work instructions, competency standards, performance requirements, and process controls to ensure they are being implemented and followed during operations
  • Define and maintain the Survey operational KPI framework, including procedure compliance, competency compliance, audit finding closure, MOC closure, training effectiveness, lessons learned implementation, and continuous improvement benefits realised.
  • Coordinate operational assurance, audit readiness, audit finding closure, procedure compliance reviews, and quality management performance.
  • Govern the lessons learned process by ensuring operational feedback, recurring issues, non-conformances, incidents, and assurance findings are captured, assessed, prioritised, assigned, tracked, and embedded into controlled improvements.
  • Ensure changes to procedures, competency standards, operational controls, and performance requirements are assessed, approved, communicated, and embedded through controlled Management of Change.
  • Act as the operational governance interface between Survey Operations, Survey Technical Authority, Crewing, Training, Project Delivery, ROC leadership, vessel teams, and support functions.
  • Promote operational discipline, procedural compliance, competence, knowledge sharing, accountability, and continuous improvement across the Survey function.
  • Significant experience in offshore, remote, or technology-enabled survey operations, with strong understanding of survey acquisition workflows, ROC support models, operational controls, assurance processes, data management, and cross-functional delivery environments.
  • Proven capability to govern operational procedures, competency frameworks, process controls, shift handovers, Management of Change, deviation reporting, quality assurance, operational records, and performance management within a structured management system.
  • Ability to use performance data, audit outcomes, non-conformances, lessons learned, competency records, and field feedback to identify trends, address root causes, and drive measurable improvement.
  • Sound operational judgement, including the confidence to challenge unclear or non-compliant working practices, intervene where standards are not met, and escalate safety, quality, competency, or delivery risks through appropriate channels.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence Survey Operations, Survey Technical Authority, Crewing, Training, Project Delivery, ROC leadership, vessel teams, and support functions without direct ownership of execution resources.
  • Strong commitment to HSSE, quality, compliance, assurance, risk management, incident and near-miss reporting, Stop Work Authority, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
  • Professional, accountable, and structured working style, with the ability to maintain traceability, embed lessons learned, promote knowledge sharing, and support safe, efficient, repeatable, and high-quality project execution.

Salary: 80,000 - 90,000 GBP per annum
