Mid-Level Software Engineer - (Panama City, FL) with Security Clearance

Position Description & Qualifications Serco Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer with experience in software programming to join our Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) team providing primary support to Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD). This position supports a broad portfolio of Autonomous Maritime System (AMS) programs in the Panama City, FL/NSWC PCD geographic region onboard a fast growing local team.

Supports the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) to design, modify, develop, write and implement software programming applications in support of unmanned systems. Works under limited supervision. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Will lead and direct work of others. Travel may be required based on customer requirements for up to 10% of support. This position will report to Serco facilities located in Panama City, FL. This mid-level position has great potential for growth into more responsibility and senior roles within an expanding work team.

In this role, you will

• Have proven experience with the principles, practices, and procedures used in software and systems development.
• Have the ability to lead and direct the work of others to accomplish program goals.
• Perform efforts and lead others to support and install software applications/operating systems.
• Participate in and often lead the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software.
• Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Must be continuously flexible to changing requirements. To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Interim Secret or Secret clearance
• U.S Citizenship required
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree
• Or a High School Diploma/GED with minimum 6 years of relevant work experience
• Minimum 2 years of directly related experience
• Proficiency in key Microsoft Office applications is required to include Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal relationships with coworkers and customers
• Ability to travel up to 10%

Additional desired experience and skills:

• Background in DOD contracting is preferred
• Proven experience in programming languages such as Python, C++, and Java
• A Secret level security clearance
