Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and integration of advanced electrical systems for innovative medical devices. This role will focus on mixed-signal electronics, regulatory compliance, hardware validation, and product lifecycle support for Client''s Surgical Innovations portfolio, including Energy Generators, Lung Health, and GYN products.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop reliable, safety-critical medical devices while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain mixed-signal electrical systems for medical devices.
  • Create system architectures, schematics, PCB layouts, and perform design verification.
  • Develop technical specifications, support component selection, and manage component obsolescence.
  • Perform hardware debugging, system integration, and validation using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and network analyzers.
  • Conduct regulatory assessments and standards-based testing, including IEC 60601-1 compliance.
  • Develop and execute verification and validation plans to ensure product reliability and performance.
  • Investigate customer complaints, perform root cause analysis, and recommend design improvements while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Support technical project planning, risk assessment, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance where needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience OR
  • Master''s degree in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with mixed-signal board design, including architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, and design verification.
  • Solid understanding of electrical circuit analysis, signal integrity, and frequency-domain concepts.
  • Experience designing and testing medium-voltage electrical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with OrCAD schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
  • Proficiency using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and network analyzers for hardware debugging and validation.
  • Experience designing medical devices within a regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IEC 60601-1 medical device safety standards and compliance testing.
  • Experience with hardware verification, reliability testing, and regulatory assessments.
  • Ability to work effectively in an Agile development environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience supporting product improvements through customer complaint investigations.
