Job Description

Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) à 1 Role | Start: Immediate

What They'll Do

  • Embed with M&T business units (retail, commercial, risk, ops) to find and validate AI use cases
  • Prototype RAG pipelines, agents, and copilots on M&T's Azure AI platform — ship working code, not decks
  • Act as the technical bridge between LOB stakeholders and the platform engineering team
  • Run discovery sprints: scoping, data assessment, feasibility, demo — fast and independently
  • Feed patterns and learnings back into the platform and governance teams

Must-Have Skills

  • Hands-on GenAI engineering: RAG, agents, prompt engineering, fine-tuning — can show the work
  • Azure OpenAI · AI Foundry · Cognitive Services; Python and/or TypeScript
  • Discovery chops: translate fuzzy business problems into technical specs without extensive handholding
  • Exceptional communicator — equally credible with a VP of Risk and a platform engineer
  • 5+ yrs combined engineering + solutioning; financial services exposure a strong plus
