Sr. Infrastructure Engineer

Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Hybrid Cloud & VMware

The Sr. Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and productionizing Lenovo FX/ThinkAgile infrastructure, including Broadcom VMware technologies also including hardware, firmware, VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and applicable VCF components. This role will design and implement Azure VMware Solution (AVS), Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE), VMware HCX, and Nutanix AHV/Prism environments and workload-mobility capabilities. The engineer will implement VMware Aria Automation/Operations, including automated provisioning, lifecycle management, monitoring, and Live Patching enablement where applicable. Additionally, the role will develop standardized Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, Aria, and Git for Windows Server, RHEL, VMware, Nutanix, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. The engineer will automate OS provisioning, security hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation, networking, storage, domain integration, and infrastructure agent deployment. The role will also integrate infrastructure services with ServiceNow, CMDB, monitoring, backup, logging, security, DNS, NTP, Active Directory/Entra ID, and other enterprise services. The Sr. Infrastructure Engineer will design and implement DR/BCP, workload replication, migration, failover/failback, and recovery testing across on-prem VMware, AVS, GCVE, and Nutanix platforms. The role will support workload migrations and modernization across VMware VCF, AVS, GCVE/HCX, and Nutanix, including dependency validation, cutover, rollback, and stabilization. The engineer will deliver architecture/design documentation, IaC standards, as-built documentation, operational runbooks, DR procedures, and knowledge transfer to Infrastructure Operations. The resource will be based in Durham, NC, with travel/support for Smyrna, GA Data Center implementation and migration activities as required.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and productionize Lenovo FX/Broadcom infrastructure, including hardware, firmware, VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and applicable VCF components.
• Design and implement Azure VMware Solution (AVS), Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE), VMware HCX, and Nutanix AHV/Prism environments and workload-mobility capabilities.
• Implement VMware Aria Automation/Operations, including automated provisioning, lifecycle management, monitoring, and Live Patching enablement where applicable.
• Develop standardized Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, Aria, and Git for Windows Server, RHEL, VMware, Nutanix, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform infrastructure.
• Automate OS provisioning, security hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation, networking, storage, domain integration, and infrastructure agent deployment.

• Experience implementing automated OS provisioning, security hardening, and vulnerability remediation.

• Knowledge of hybrid cloud connectivity, storage integration, and enterprise networking.

• Experience with workload replication, migration cutover, rollback, failover, and failback.

• Familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, DNS, NTP, monitoring, and backup integrations.

• Experience developing infrastructure architecture documents, operational runbooks, and as-built documentation.

• Experience supporting production infrastructure environments and coordinating technical knowledge transfer.
