Responsibilities and Duties of the Role

• Focus on major areas of work, typically 20% or more of role% of Time

●Contributing to a project or feature development
○Using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
○Writing efficient, reliable, and maintainable code whether implementing architectural improvements, user-facing features, or fixing defects.
○Building solutions for problems of sizeable scope and complexity that will be successfully deployed to customers/users.
○Influencing and driving software engineering best practices within the team.
○Analyzing and optimizing application code for efficiency, reliability and performance.
○Managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
○Operating as a resource to less experienced Software Engineers, providing an open learning environment for cross-team knowledge sharing.
o Coding, PR Reviews, Writing Tests
●Collaborating with QA and Automation Team
●Interacting with the Product Development team to review requirements and discuss feature development
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:
Minimum and Preferred. Inclusive of Licenses/Certs (include functional experience as well as behavioral attributes and/or leadership capabilities)

Basic Qualifications
●Up to 4+ years hands-on professional development experience with Android on all OS versions

Preferred Qualifications
●Solid understanding of OO design patterns and concepts.
●Solid understanding of unit test frameworks and continuous integration systems.
●Solid understanding of architecture, assisting Software Architects as necessary.
●Android app development life cycle including Google Play and Amazon App Store compliance policies and submissions requirements.
●Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
●Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team as well as ability to work independently.
●Work well with minimal technical supervision and supplemental engineering support.
●Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can effectively articulate complex ideas and influence others through well-reasoned explanations.

Required Education
●BS, BA, or advanced degree in computer science, engineering or its equivalent
4. Technical Skills & Experience Requirements

• Experience Level: 4+ years of Android development.
• Core Technologies:

oKotlin (primary language)
oAndroid Studio
oJetpack Compose for UI

• Nice-to-haves:

oJava and XML (legacy Android views)
oExperience with streaming or entertainment apps (not required)

• AI Tooling:

oFamiliarity with AI tools is a plus
oCurrent tools used by the team include Cursor and Claude
oAI is primarily used for unit testing support and debugging
oEmphasis on cautious use of AI, with engineers expected to follow established coding best practices and not rely blindly on AI-generated output
