Are you a Senior DevOps Engineer looking to take ownership of cloud infrastructure, drive automation, and shape DevOps best practices across a technology-driven organisation?
We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a growing Platform Engineering team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to influence engineering standards, improve cloud platforms, and drive the adoption of automation and CI/CD practices across a complex IT environment.
Working closely with infrastructure, software engineering and architecture teams, you will play a key role in designing, delivering and supporting scalable, secure and resilient cloud solutions.
The Role
As Senior DevOps Engineer, you will take technical ownership of key initiatives, champion automation, and help engineering teams adopt modern DevOps principles. You'll combine hands-on technical delivery with mentoring, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

• Drive the adoption of DevOps principles, automation and CI/CD practices across the organisation.
• Design, develop and maintain reusable Azure DevOps YAML pipeline templates and standardised processes.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to engineers across IT.
• Take ownership of technical projects, ensuring solutions are delivered to agreed standards.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and Enterprise Architects to design and implement robust cloud solutions.
• Review CI/CD pipeline changes, ensuring quality, consistency and adherence to best practices.
• Develop self-service capabilities, empowering engineering teams while maintaining governance and security standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, infrastructure and automation.
• Advise stakeholders on technical approaches, risks, trade-offs and potential business impacts.
• Support cloud infrastructure, networking, security, monitoring and high-availability solutions.
• Maintain clear documentation and change records, keeping stakeholders informed of significant changes.
• Participate in an out-of-hours support rota for critical incidents.

About You
You'll be a hands-on, proactive Senior DevOps Engineer with strong Azure expertise, a passion for automation and the ability to influence engineering practices across teams.
You will bring:

• Excellent working knowledge of Azure DevOps, including Boards and Classic and YAML Pipelines.
• Strong experience authoring shared, reusable YAML pipeline templates.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure PaaS and SaaS services.
• Strong working knowledge of Terraform, Ansible and PowerShell.
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Docker and container orchestration.
• A solid understanding of Azure networking, including VNets and load balancers.
• Experience implementing Azure policies, RBAC and cloud security best practices.
• Knowledge of security solutions such as WAF, bot protection and DDoS mitigation, including platforms such as Cloudflare.
• Practical experience implementing and improving monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Excellent knowledge of Azure Landing Zone architecture and Azure networking.
• Experience designing, delivering and supporting highly available cloud environments and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience with Active Directory and VMware.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• The ability to mentor and coach colleagues, collaborate effectively and make independent technical decisions.
