The following requirement is open with our client. 

Title                                       : QA Automation Engineer

Location                               : Deerfield, IL (Onsite)

Duration                              : 12 Months

Relevant Experience      : 5+

Job Responsibilities:       

  • ·         Key Responsibilities:
  • ·         Lead and drive API Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, and End-to-End (E2E) validation across multiple applications and platforms.
  • ·         Design, develop, and maintain scalable API automation frameworks using Java, Rest Assured, Cucumber, TestNG/JUnit, or equivalent frameworks.
  • ·         Create and execute automated API test suites covering functional, integration, regression, and negative test scenarios.
  • ·         Validate RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend services including request/response verification, schema validation, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
  • ·         Perform service-level testing using tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI, Newman, or similar open-source frameworks.
  • ·         Collaborate with developers, business analysts, architects, and third-party vendors to ensure comprehensive API test coverage and successful delivery.
  • ·         Perform test planning, estimation, scheduling, and execution for large and complex initiatives.
  • ·         Develop and maintain automated test execution within CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing practices.
  • ·         Conduct backend and database validations using SQL and MongoDB Compass.
  • ·         Analyze application logs and troubleshoot integration issues across distributed systems and microservices.
  • ·         Support SIT, UAT, production deployments, and release validation activities.
  • ·         Manage defects, perform root cause analysis, and track issues using JIRA or Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • ·         Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • ·         Coordinate effectively with onshore and offshore teams to ensure timely delivery and quality outcomes.
  • ·         Provide regular status updates and communicate testing progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.
  • ·         Coordinate effectively across onshore and offshore teams.
  • ·         Maintain flexibility to overlap with onsite working hours (until noon, as needed).
  • ·         Required Skills & Experience:
  • ·         5+ years of experience in API Testing and API Automation.
  • ·         Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Newman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or equivalent frameworks.
  • ·         Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, XML, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, OAuth, JWT, and API security concepts.
  • ·         Experience testing microservices-based architectures and distributed systems.
    Strong SQL skills and experience with database validation and data integrity testing.
  • ·         Experience with source control and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • ·         Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, including network and service-level analysis.
  • ·         Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Kubernetes (K8s), Kibana, Dynatrace, Splunk, or similar platforms.
  • ·         Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • ·         Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • ·         Preferred Qualifications:
  • ·         Experience with Playwright or Selenium for UI automation testing.
  • ·         Knowledge of Node.js and JavaScript-based testing frameworks.
  • ·         Experience with API performance testing tools such as JMeter or k6.
  • ·         Experience testing event-driven systems and messaging platforms such as Kafka.
  • ·         Mobile application testing experience.
  • ·         Experience with responsive web and cross-browser validation.
  • ·         Familiarity with Retail domain applications and business processes.
