Data Scientist / Data Engineer IV

We are seeking a versatile Data Scientist / Data Engineer to join our team supporting a critical federal program in Washington, DC. This hybrid role combines hands-on data engineering pipeline management with infrastructure support and troubleshooting for advanced data science tools. Working onsite with cross-functional teams, you will turn complex data infrastructure challenges into reliable, production-ready solutions.

responsibilities:

Provide infrastructure and troubleshooting support for data science tools (e.g., Linux, R Studio, Databricks).

Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable data ingestion, processing, and transformation pipelines using Python, Spark, and Databricks.

Develop and optimize data models, data warehouses, and lakehouse architectures to support both analytical and machine learning workloads.

Perform feature engineering, exploratory data analysis (EDA), and statistical analysis to support production models and insights.

Implement MLOps practices, including model versioning, CI/CD, containerization, and production model monitoring.

Ensure high data quality, data validation, and strict data governance processes across government data environments.

qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in a hybrid Data Scientist / Data Engineer capacity.

Solid proficiency in Python, SQL, Linux environments, and big data technologies (Spark, Databricks).

Ability to work 100% onsite in Washington, DC (5 days per week).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Active Public Trust clearance (DOJ clearance preferred).

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and basic knowledge of R Studio.

Background in MLOps, CI/CD for machine learning, or Apache Airflow orchestration.
