Job Description

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Principal Engineer - Software and Controls Infrastructure for a contract opportunity with one of our premier clients in Oshkosh, WI

The Principal Engineer - Software team member will support getting our software development process integrated with a CI/CD pipeline. The team member must be familiar with software build tools, and CI/CD environments.

Responsibilities :
  • Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh, as well as general industry, engineering standards and processes.
  • Support more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Responsible for a project.
  • May be responsible for managing multiple projects.
  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers, designers, or technicians working on a common project.
  • Participate in peer reviews, estimation, and other engineering activities.
  • Follow defined CMMI level 3 procedures in the writing of software.
  • Administer/manage/use DevSecOps tools.
  • Ensure software builds can be executed in a repeatable manner on a CI/CD server.
  • Ensure software assurance activities are enforced as part of the normal software development lifecycle.
  • Manage and maintain code baselines, build pipelines, and environment configurations across development and test environments.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to configuration management systems and delivery workflows.
  • Support release management activities, ensuring stability and consistency across environments.
  • Coordinate with applicable stakeholders for baseline changes & troubleshooting issues with the build process.
  • Document and maintain guidelines and standards for dependency management, build and versioning.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical subject matter.
  • Process engineering information through CMMI level 3 procedures and software safety process.
  • Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
  • Establish priorities for work delegated to others.
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required.


Requirements :
  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with five (5) or more years of related experience.
  • Hands-on approach to troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration
  • Familiarity with automated builds and CI/CD pipelines
  • Expertise in software configuration management and version control systems

Preferred Skills :
  • Familiarity with setting up build plans in Atlassian Bamboo
  • Experience using conan package manager
  • Strong programming experience in Python and/or Groovy
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems
