Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Field Support Engineer to provide on-site technical support for healthcare/medical technology systems and equipment.

This is a need-based, freelance 1099 opportunity. The selected consultant will be contacted when field support services are required in the assigned area. Candidates must be local to the Mechanicsburg, PA area and able to travel to customer locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical and field support at healthcare/customer locations.

• Install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and support technical equipment and systems.

• Diagnose hardware, software, connectivity, and system-related issues.

• Perform equipment setup, replacement, testing, and basic preventive maintenance.

• Follow client procedures for installation, troubleshooting, documentation, and issue resolution.

• Coordinate remotely with technical support teams when issues require escalation.

• Maintain accurate service records, work reports, and installation/maintenance documentation.

• Communicate professionally with customers and healthcare staff during service visits.

• Travel to customer locations within the assigned coverage area on an as-needed basis.

• Follow applicable customer, healthcare, safety, and security procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Field Support Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Field Technician, Desktop Support Technician, or similar role.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Experience supporting hardware, software, networking, or medical/healthcare technology is preferred.

• Ability to work independently at customer locations.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to follow technical documentation and service procedures.

• Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally as needed.

• Must be comfortable working on a need-based / on-call basis.

• Ability to provide professional customer-facing support.

Preferred Experience

• Healthcare / hospital / medical device support experience.

• Experience with medical equipment, clinical systems, or healthcare IT environments.

• Experience with hardware installation and troubleshooting.

• Basic networking and connectivity troubleshooting.

• Experience documenting field service activities and closing service tickets.

1099 / Independent Contractor engagement.

Location Requirement

• Candidate must currently reside within approximately 70 miles of Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.

• Candidate must be able to travel to customer sites within the assigned service area.

• This is not a fully remote position.

Travel & Expenses

• Travel expenses will be covered/reimbursed by the client as applicable.

• Any approved travel-related expenses incurred while performing assigned field service work will be reimbursed according to the client's travel and expense policy.

• Candidates should have reliable transportation for local field assignments.

This is a need-based freelance opportunity, not a guaranteed full-time schedule. Work assignments will be provided based on customer/project requirements and field service needs.
