Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Distribution and Logistics direct the company’s end-to-end distribution and logistics operations, with responsibility for warehouse, shipping/receiving, transportation, and temperature-controlled inventory across multiple locations. This leader will build scalable, cost-effective capabilities that support current operations and future national and international growth, while improving service, reliability, and customer experience. As a member of the Operations Leadership Team, this role will help shape strategy, lead cross-functional execution, and develop the organization for continued growth. This role is onsite at our facility in Henderson, Nevada.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience across distribution, warehousing, transportation, and shipping/receiving operations, including senior leadership responsibility
  • 8-10 years in a manufacturing warehouse environment
  • Experience leading multi-site distribution operations across B2B and B2C channels, including network and footprint optimization
  • Have designed/operated small parcel/high flow distribution operation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
  • Experience leading omnichannel fulfillment operations, including high-volume pick/pack
  • Can articulate the distribution model through to the customer experience – identify the business model in terms of delivery expectations (over-night, two or three day order to cash)
  • Experience implementing and optimizing WMS, ERP integration, warehouse automation, picking strategies, and FIFO/FEFO controls
  • Proficient in Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Computer data-entry experience required
  • Proven ability to forecast, analyze and identify improvement opportunities in the warehouse and shipping/receiving processes and operations
  • An understanding of the manufacturing process and quality control procedures
  • Proven experience scaling logistics operations, reengineering processes, and building systems and teams in a fast-growing business
  • Proven ability to influence organizational change and build alignment across Operations, Manufacturing, Planning, Inventory Control, Quality, Finance, Customer Service, and Commercial teams
  • Strong FTL, LTL, parcel, and international freight experience, with demonstrated results in cost reduction, carrier management, network consolidation, and distribution expansion
  • Working knowledge of import/export operations, customs compliance, international trade documentation, and cross-border logistics risk management
  • Experience in projects with Lean/Six Sigma or other problem-solving methodology
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders across an organization
  • Proven track record of high-impact project implementations, including 3+ years' experience in business transformation programs
  • Ability to translate operational and financial data into KPIs, business cases, and decisions that improve service, cost, capacity, and growth readiness
  • Able to work with minimal direct guidance or direction

 ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead strategic distribution and logistics initiatives on time and within budget, with minimal disruption to the existing business.
  • Establish effective governance, implementation plans, risk controls, and business continuity plans for logistics and distribution operations.
  • Lead and continuously improve Pick & Pack, B2B, B2C, and omnichannel fulfillment operations.
  • Effectively delegate project tasks to the appropriate owners.
  • Collaborate with internal team members to share best practices, methodology, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate priorities, performance, risks, and escalations clearly to project teams and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with Inventory Control, Manufacturing, and Finance teams to monitor and track to targets and budgets for strategic initiatives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct the work of warehouse personnel and supervisory staff.
  • Ensure warehouse personnel perform their daily tasks safely and responsibly, consistent with company safety policies.
  • Monitor the shipment and receipt of materials and oversee inventory movement, accuracy, and location within the warehouse.
  • Establish performance metrics and implement best practices that improve safety, service, cost, productivity, and inventory accuracy.
  • Review and strengthen the current Business-to-Consumer (B2C) operating model to support scalable growth and an improved customer experience.
  • Provide motivation, training, and develop workforce
  • Monitor the completion of daily warehouse activities
  • Ensure proper temperature-controlled storage conditions for temperature-sensitive raw materials and finished products.
  • Evaluate departmental procedures and approve all department SOPs.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration with other departments to support policies and goals of company
  • Plan labor needs, space utilization, technology, and facility resources to ensure a cost-effective operation.
  • Develop the distribution network, capacity, and technology roadmap required to support national and international growth initiatives.
  • Perform employee development functions such as performance reviews, disciplinary actions, interviewing, and other personnel issues
  • Coordinate supply needs with multiple departments according to defined schedules
  • Responsible for quality and continuous improvement within the job scope
  • Responsible for all actions/responsibilities as described in company controlled documentation for this position
  • Contribute to and support the corporation’s quality initiatives by planning, communicating, and encouraging team and individual contributions toward the corporation’s quality improvement efforts
  • Meet with external group(s), as needed
  • Develop domestic and international transportation strategies and manage carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics partners to deliver best-in-class service at a competitive cost.
  • Attend all meetings where the Warehouse department input is required
  • Contribute to a working environment that gives employees opportunities for development, growth, and advancement.
  • Carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, and domestic and international trade requirements.
  • Build organizational capability by selecting, developing, and retaining strong leaders and team members, with clear succession and workforce plans.

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at assigned desk area
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to travel as needed between the Henderson, Nevada headquarters and Broomfield, Colorado operations, as well as to supplier and manufacturing-partner locations, laboratories, universities, trade shows, conferences, and other business locations.
