Victoria Legal Aid are seeking an experienced Data Integrity Lead, due to an internal promotion, to join a genuinely supportive and collaborative team.

  • Full time, Ongoing position
  • Salary range: $131,154 - $155,000 plus superannuation
  • Up to $15,900 in salary packaging, flexible hybrid work arrangement

About the role

The Data Integrity Lead ensures Victoria Legal Aid (VLA)'s data is consistently defined and documented, so it can be trusted, its semantic and meaning understood, and used effectively across the organisation and with external partners. The role leads the development and governance of VLA's metadata, including data dictionaries and business glossaries, and coordinates the governance of priority data domains.

As operational owner of VLA's enterprise metadata management platform, the role works with digital project teams to embed agreed definitions and standards into new and enhanced systems, and with the Data Reporting and Advanced Analytics and AI teams to ensure data products use agreed data elements, metrics and calculations. The Data Integrity Lead collaborates closely with the Enterprise Data Architect and Data Quality Lead to align approaches, identify priority data domains, and represents VLA in selected external forums to support alignment with sector-wide definitions and standards.


This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Proven ability to lead metadata and data definition work in a complex public service or regulated organisation, producing accurate, accessible, and trusted business metadata and related governance artefacts.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in master data, reference, transactional data and organisational metrics governance, including identifying authoritative sources, business rules, and aligning practices with external standards where relevant.
  • Experience managing enterprise metadata management systems, including administration, configuration, and content quality oversight.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess data-related risks, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and recommend practical solutions and controls.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills, with a track record of working across functions, including system and data design, analytics, architecture, and data quality teams, to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data governance concepts into clear, plain language for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A knowledge of the general business of VLA and a commitment to our vision and values.
