Job Description

Key Account Executive Redditch Up to £45,000 depending on experience Engineering & Manufacturing
Do you enjoy the engineering conversation just as much as the commercial one?
Perhaps you're already managing technical accounts, but you'd like more involvement in the engineering side. Or maybe you're technically minded, understand manufacturing and have discovered you're pretty good at building customer relationships too.
As Key Account Executive, you'll get to do both.
You'll be talking to engineers about drawings, specifications and what they're trying to achieve, then turning those conversations into commercially sound solutions and long-term customer relationships.
And you won't be selling something from a catalogue.
The business has been manufacturing engineered components for more than 60 years, supplying customers across Aerospace, Defence, Energy, Medical and High-Tech sectors.
The conversations here are about solving problems, understanding applications and finding the right way to manufacture something.
As Key Account Executive, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of established, high-value accounts, building on relationships that are already there while finding opportunities to grow them.
There's also a business development element to the Key Account Executive position. You'll be looking beyond your existing customers, identifying new opportunities and building relationships with businesses that could benefit from what you have to offer.
Some days that means sitting down with a customer's engineering team to understand a new requirement.
Other days you might be reviewing a drawing, preparing a quotation, supporting an NPI project or spotting another area where you can help.
You'll become the person your customers call because you understand both sides of the conversation.
That's an important part of being a Key Account Executive here.
You're not simply passing enquiries from customers to engineering and waiting for an answer. You'll have enough engineering knowledge to ask good questions, challenge where needed and help shape a solution that works technically and commercially.
Internally, you'll work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain. There's no point promising something that can't be delivered, so communication matters.
You'll understand what the customer needs, what the business can achieve and bring the two together.
As Key Account Executive, you'll also get out and see your customers. There'll be customer visits, reviews, exhibitions and industry events, giving you the opportunity to build relationships beyond emails and Teams calls.
So, what do you need to bring?
You'll need to be technically minded, with a good understanding of mechanical engineering or manufacturing. That might come from an HNC, HND, degree or simply years of experience working in a technical environment.
You'll already have worked in technical sales, account management or sales engineering within manufacturing, and you'll be comfortable interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
Experience within Aerospace, Defence, Energy or other highly regulated manufacturing environments would be beneficial.
But the important combination is technical curiosity and commercial awareness.
You're someone who wants to understand why.
Why does the customer need it? Could it be engineered differently? Is there another opportunity within the account? What other businesses could benefit from the same engineering expertise?
And how do you make sure the solution works for the customer and makes commercial sense for the business?
If that's how you naturally think, you'll probably enjoy being a Key Account Executive here.
You'll be credible with customers, comfortable negotiating and organised enough to keep your CRM, forecasts and pipeline up to date.
And what's in it for you?
You'll earn up to £45,000 depending on experience, joining an established engineering manufacturer with over 60 years of experience and ambitions to keep growing.
Alongside your salary, you'll receive:
  • 25 days' holiday, with an additional 2 days based on attendance.
  • Stakeholder pension with 5% employee and 3% employer contributions.
  • Life insurance worth twice your annual salary.
  • Company sick pay.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Company-funded social events.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
But there's also the opportunity to have a genuine influence on where the business grows next.
This isn't about inheriting some accounts and simply keeping them ticking over.
As Key Account Executive, you'll have the opportunity to build on existing partnerships, develop new customer relationships and see the difference your work makes to the business.
If you're technically minded, enjoy building relationships and can hold your own in both an engineering and commercial conversation, this could be worth a chat.
