Job Description

Hansen Talent Group is seeking a junior security analyst who is eager to kickstart their career working with security and system SMEs! The ideal candidate can work onsite in the Columbia, SC area and has a strong understanding of IT security and system/network operations.
The Junior Security Analyst will be responsible for supporting the enhancement of security postures across the division, working closely with security engineers and system/network engineers to support data protection.
Duties:

Monitor security and threat intelligence logs and dashboards to identify potential threats, research threat and gather detailed information for the security and systems teams, and document all findings, information, and vulnerabilities.
Collaborate with senior security analyst to refine and test detection rule for SIEM and EDR tools, investigate suspicious activities, and provide detailed documentation to support playbooks.
Analyze server and network logs to identify indicators of compromise, escalate findings to the appropriate security and server/network team. Document and track trends to support continuous improvement activities.
Assist in triage for all security incidents, following response frameworks and internal company processes. Gather evidence to define scope of incident and escalate appropriately. Assist with remediation
Assist vulnerability management and automation teams in prioritizing patching and designing scripts to create automated responses to incidents.
Support modernization efforts with migration to cloud platforms and tools.

Qualifications:

Baseline understanding of server and network operations.
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Cyber Security

Required Skills (rank in order of Importance):
• Understanding of security concepts and processes
• Understanding of basic computer and network concepts
Preferred Skills (rank in order of Importance):
• 1+ Years of Experience in Server or Network Administration
• 1+ Year of Experience in an IT Security Focused Role
• Experience with SIEM and Endpoint Security Tools
• Experience with PowerShell, Group Policy, and Endpoint Management
• Knowledge of Vulnerability Management and Cloud Security
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
Additional Skills
• Problem-Solving: Analyze data, identify anomalies, and recommend solutions.
• Attention to Detail: Ensure accurate analysis and configuration for effective security measures.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with a mid-size team
Required Education and experience: A High School Diploma is required at minimum Certifications: Not required, however we prioritize applicants who have:
• GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
• Security+ (CompTIA)
• Network+ (CompTIA)
• GIAC Incident Handler (GCIH)
