Cable Technician

Description
We are looking for a Cable Technician to support contract work in Escondido, California. This role focuses on installing and servicing low-voltage infrastructure that enables building automation, energy management, battery storage, and related control systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with structured cabling, interpreting technical diagrams, and helping ensure systems are installed accurately and perform reliably.

Responsibilities

Install and route low-voltage cabling for building controls, communication networks, and connected energy systems. Terminate CAT5/6, fiber, and control wiring while maintaining organized, code-compliant cable pathways. Connect controllers, sensors, panels, and other field devices according to project specifications and wiring documentation. Perform testing and troubleshooting to verify signal integrity, identify faults, and resolve cabling issues efficiently. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and technical schematics to complete installations correctly.

Assist with startup activities, system checks, and ongoing maintenance for automation and energy-related equipment. Support on-site coordination by documenting completed work and reporting installation or performance concerns to project leads. Requirements
Hands-on experience with low-voltage cabling, including installation, termination, and troubleshooting. Working knowledge of network cabling standards and best practices for structured cabling environments. Ability to install and test CAT5/6, fiber, and other communication or control cabling.

Familiarity with reading wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical installation documents. Experience supporting building automation, control systems, or similar field device installations. Understanding of safe job site practices and quality standards for cable installation work. Exposure to platforms or systems such as Distech is preferred.
