Junior Commissioning Engineer (High Voltage)
£45,000 - £55,000 + Training + Company Vehicle + Travel Allowances + Private Healthcare + Pension

Are you an electrically trained engineer or technician with some experience working on 66kV+ systems, looking to build your career in High Voltage commissioning?

This company is a leading specialist in delivering high-voltage infrastructure projects across the UK. With a strong pipeline of work across utilities, renewable energy and critical infrastructure, you'll receive hands-on training and support while developing your commissioning expertise on systems up to 132kV and beyond.
In this role, you will support experienced commissioning engineers with the testing and commissioning of HV systems, gaining practical experience with primary and secondary injection testing, protection systems, switchgear and associated equipment. You'll also assist with site documentation, safety procedures and commissioning reports while travelling to project sites nationwide.
This role would suit an electrically qualified engineer or technician who already has some experience working with 66kV+ equipment and is looking to specialise in HV commissioning.
The company will provide the training and development needed to progress your technical skills and career within the HV industry.
The Role:
- Assist experienced engineers with HV testing and commissioning on systems from 66kV up to 400kV+
- Support with equipment setup, testing, safety checks, RAMS and commissioning documentation
- Gain experience with primary and secondary injection testing
- Assist with protection relay testing and commissioning
- Develop knowledge of HV switchgear, substations, SCADA and fibre optic systems
- Travel nationwide to client and project sites
- Work alongside senior engineers while developing towards greater responsibility and autonomy
The Person:
- Previous experience working with 66kV+ HV systems/equipment
- Electrical background through an apprenticeship, HNC/HND or equivalent practical experience
- Some experience within HV installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance or substations
