Job Description

CICS Administration & Maintenance

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain CICS Transaction Server (CICS TS) environments.
  • Apply PTFs, maintenance fixes, and APARs and perform regression validation.
  • Configure and maintain CICS regions across Production, Test, Development, and DR environments.
  • Maintain DFHSIT (System Initialization Table) and CICS startup parameters.
  • Manage CICS region startup/shutdown and system initialization procedures.
  • Configure and maintain CICS System Definition (CSD) and resource definitions.
  • Administer CICS resources including TRANSACTION, PROGRAM, FILE, TDQUEUE, TSQUEUE, TCP/IP, and CONNECTION/SESSION definitions.
  • Support CICS region cloning and configuration changes.

Production Support & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor CICS regions and troubleshoot transaction abends, hangs, storage violations, timeouts, and performance issues.
  • Analyze CICS dumps, SYSLOG, CICS messages, job logs, and trace data to identify root causes.
  • Troubleshoot CICS availability, connectivity, and transaction-processing issues.
  • Participate in 24x7 production support/on-call rotation as required.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.

Performance & Capacity

  • Monitor and tune CICS region performance, storage, CPU utilization, transaction response time, and resource usage.
  • Analyze CICS statistics and performance data to identify potential capacity or performance issues.
  • Work with DB2, MQ, z/OS, Storage, Network, and Application teams to resolve cross-platform issues.

Integration & Modernization

  • Support CICS integrations with DB2, IBM MQ, VSAM, TCP/IP, and other mainframe subsystems.
  • Support modernization initiatives involving CICS web services, APIs, and distributed-system connectivity.
  • Participate in CICS version upgrades, migration, disaster recovery, and high-availability initiatives.
