Job Overview

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, automating, monitoring, and optimizing enterprise geospatial services and data platforms. This role requires close collaboration with product, data engineering, operations, security, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and highly available map-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated deployment workflows for geospatial services using Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD, GitHub, and Jenkins.

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for geospatial platforms, map data pipelines, and enterprise environments.

  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate build, testing, deployment, and release processes.

  • Implement repeatable and reliable deployment processes across development, testing, and production environments.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments using Terraform and Ansible.

  • Configure and maintain Splunk monitoring and logging for geospatial services and enterprise applications.

  • Develop observability dashboards to monitor service health, latency, throughput, availability, and error patterns.

  • Analyze application and infrastructure incidents, identify root causes, and implement permanent remediation.

  • Automate operational runbooks and repetitive support activities to reduce manual effort and operational toil.

  • Participate in incident response and troubleshooting activities while ensuring services are restored within established SLA/SLO targets.

  • Conduct capacity planning, performance analysis, and tuning for geospatial workloads.

  • Optimize compute, storage, networking, and data-query performance for map-based applications.

  • Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, developers, operations teams, and business stakeholders to translate geospatial requirements into scalable technical solutions.

  • Implement security controls, configuration baselines, access controls, and audit-ready logging within DevOps workflows.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, monitoring standards, and operational runbooks.

  • Mentor junior engineers and analysts on DevOps, automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and SRE best practices.

  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, deployment efficiency, and overall platform performance.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of overall IT experience with strong experience in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure automation, or enterprise platform engineering.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

  • Strong experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins for build and deployment automation.

  • Strong experience with GitHub/Git-based source control and collaboration workflows.

  • Strong experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation.

  • Experience with Splunk for logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, and dashboard development.

  • Experience supporting enterprise applications, platforms, or data services.

  • Understanding of SRE principles, incident management, observability, service reliability, and SLOs/SLAs.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Experience working in cross-functional and Agile/DevOps environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with geospatial platforms, GIS applications, map services, or spatial data pipelines.

  • Experience with enterprise GIS technologies such as Esri/ArcGIS is highly desirable.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience implementing security and compliance requirements within CI/CD and IaC workflows.

  • Experience with performance engineering, capacity planning, and production reliability.

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and driving DevOps/SRE best practices.

Certifications

Preferred certifications include:

  • Splunk Core Certified Power User

  • Terraform/HashiCorp certification

  • DevOps certification

  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) certification

  • Cloud certification such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
