JavaScript Developer

Our Healthcare client is seeking a JavaScript Developer with 4+ years of professional experience building scalable backend applications using Node.js and Express. This role will focus on designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services that support healthcare referral decisioning workflows, including specialty recommendations, provider matching, and notifications. The ideal candidate has strong database expertise, experience implementing business rules and decision logic, and a background working in cloud-native development environments. Healthcare payer or provider experience is highly preferred. This 100% remote role has an initial duration of 8 months + potential extensions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.
• Develop APIs supporting specialty referral decisioning workflows, including specialty recommendation, provider/specialist matching, and notifications.
• Design and optimize database schemas, indexes, and queries using PostgreSQL.
• Utilize PgAdmin, Prisma, and Liquibase for database development, schema management, and migrations.
• Implement complex business rules and decision-logic engines within backend services.
• Develop comprehensive unit and integration tests using Jest, Mocha, or similar frameworks.
• Follow API design best practices, including versioning, JSON schema validation, and maintainable service architecture.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using tools such as GitHub Actions and GitOps.
• Support cloud-native application development, with Google Cloud Platform experience preferred.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate healthcare workflows and business requirements into reliable backend solutions.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional Node.js and Express experience.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, API versioning, and JSON schema validation.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
• Experience with Prisma, PgAdmin, and Liquibase.
• Proven experience building and maintaining production REST APIs.
• Experience implementing business rules, decision logic, or rules engines within backend services.
• Experience with unit and integration testing, using Jest, Mocha, or comparable frameworks.
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices, GitHub Actions, and GitOps.
