Job Description

A highly regarded international law firm is seeking a mid-level Labor & Employment Associate to join its growing Los Angeles office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to work on sophisticated employment litigation matters while partnering closely with experienced attorneys representing public entities throughout California.. The position offers meaningful responsibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to handle complex employment disputes from inception through resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Defend public entities in a broad range of employment-related matters
  • Manage and assist with all phases of litigation, including case strategy, discovery, motions, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related documents
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic analysis on employment law issues
  • Collaborate directly with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel
  • Participate in hearings, negotiations, and other advocacy opportunities
  • Advise clients on employment-related risks, compliance issues, and workplace disputes

Practice Exposure

Attorneys in this role will have the opportunity to work on matters involving:

  • Employment discrimination
  • Harassment and retaliation claims
  • Wrongful termination
  • Wage and hour disputes
  • Disability accommodation and leave issues
  • Internal workplace investigations
  • Public entity employment litigation
  • Constitutional and statutory employment claims
  • In addition, attorneys may gain exposure to matters arising under the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) and other complex workplace-related litigation. Prior TVPRA experience is not required, but an interest in developing expertise in this area is strongly encouraged.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in the California Bar
  • Approximately 3-7 years of employment litigation experience
  • Experience handling employment disputes from a defense perspective
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Deposition, motion practice, and client counseling experience preferred
  • Prior experience representing public entities is a plus but not required
  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
