Job Description
Director - Finance
For more than 70 years, CRST has delivered on its promises to customers, growing to be one of the nation's largest privately held transportation and logistics companies. Our nationwide team of experienced drivers and network of independent contractors and agents drives more than 200 million miles a year, powered by a large network of transportation assets, a dedicated driver support team, and state-of-the-art tools and systems.
This role supports Flatbed Solutions, which operates one of the largest flatbed asset networks in the United States through an agent and independent contractor-driven operating model, serving customers with specialized transportation needs for freight of varying size, shape, and destination. The business is also expanding its brokerage and asset-light services as part of its ongoing growth strategy. CRST is seeking a Director - Finance to serve as the senior finance leader for our Flatbed Solutions business.
This is more than a traditional Controller role - it's a strategic, business-facing finance leadership position embedded in the leadership team, with the opportunity to shape decisions that drive the business forward. You'll own financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis for the business, while partnering closely with operational leadership to translate financial data into stronger business decisions. This is a chance to lead a stable, capable team, streamline and modernize a growing finance function, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership at a scale that matters.
Incentive Eligibility
: Performance-based bonus and commission structure
Comprehensive package including medical, dental, and vision coverage; company-paid life and disability insurance; retirement savings with company match; paid time off, holidays, and parental leave; Business Partnership
: Serve as the primary strategic financial advisor to Flatbed Solutions leadership, informing key business decisions
Financial Leadership
: Ensure the integrity of financial data, including oversight of month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L analysis
Strategic Planning
: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for the business, aligning plans with broader organizational goals
Oversee billing, invoicing, and collections activity to ensure accurate, timely revenue recognition
Provide financial analysis to support historical, planned, and forecasted results, staying apprised of industry trends and competitor performance
Identify opportunities that drive customer value, revenue growth, and margin improvement
Prepare financial performance summaries and recommendations for executive leadership and the board of directors
Team Leadership
: Lead and develop a team of finance professionals, including people leaders and individual contributors, while fostering a data-driven culture
Assist in pricing analysis and financial evaluation of new business opportunities
Compliance
: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies
A leader who moves comfortably between the details and the big picture - equally at home reconciling a balance sheet and challenging a business leader's assumptions with data.
Someone who spots risk early, communicates financial impact clearly to non-finance audiences, and pushes the business toward better decisions rather than just reporting on the ones already made. A track record of driving process improvement and using technology to modernize how finance work gets done.
