Purpose of the role

This role sits within the London Financial Accounting team and supports the financial control and reporting of the Group and its subsidiaries, with a specific focus on regulatory reporting. The individual will take direct responsibility for the coordination and execution of certain regulatory reporting obligations, and will play an active role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Group's accounting books and records.

The London Financial Accounting team is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records for the Group's UK-based subsidiaries and certain overseas entities. The team's remit covers legal entity board reporting, regulatory and statutory reporting, and month-end reporting to the Group Reporting team.

The role requires ongoing collaboration with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders — including Treasury, Tax, Group Reporting, Legal, Company Secretarial, Operations, and the Group's global offices — as well as external auditors and tax advisors. The successful candidate will also contribute to ad-hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as they arise.

Specific responsibilities

  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reporting activities for the Group’s regulated UK subsidiaries, in addition to preparing certain returns, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely delivery.
  • Prepare and present updates on regulatory reporting and relevant KRIs to senior stakeholders on a monthly basis, providing clear commentary on key metrics and emerging issues.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance across the Group's global subsidiaries, identifying and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Perform monthly financial accounting activities for all entities within the individual's area of responsibility, maintaining an accurate and complete general ledger and ensuring all analytical reviews and balance sheet reconciliations are completed, reviewed and any review points addressed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare local GAAP statutory financial statements and support the preparation of tax returns for all relevant entities.
  • Prepare board packs and reporting for legal entities as required.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors, coordinating the provision of information to support statutory audits, local tax returns and other regulatory filings.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Finance teams across the Group — including US and Swiss Financial Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Group Reporting and Finance Business Partners — to ensure the timely and accurate flow of information.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to existing processes, leveraging new tools and technologies where appropriate.
  • Provide day-to-day support and mentoring to junior members of the team.
  • Contribute to wider Financial Control and Reporting projects and initiatives as required.

Key competencies

  • Accounting: ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification
  • Experience: Proven experience in regulatory reporting within financial services. Strong working knowledge of financial and technical accounting, including experience with local GAAP statutory reporting. Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, analytical review and legal entity reporting is advantageous.
  • IT Skills: Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with financial systems. Experience with general ledger systems is desirable. A willingness to explore and adopt new tools and technologies — including AI — to improve the quality and efficiency of work is expected.
  • Interpersonal: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to senior stakeholders. Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across a broad set of internal and external relationships.
  • Other: Proactive and self-motivated, with strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset. Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team. Curious and open to change, with a willingness to challenge existing processes and identify better ways of working.
