Quick overview
Job description
The VP β Insurance F&A Solutioning and Client Enablement owns the solutioning charter for EXL's Insurance Finance & Accounting business across Life & Annuities and Property & Casualty (P&C). The role is accountable for win rate, solution quality and pipeline conversion on large, integrated F&A pursuits, and for building the solutioning team and go-to-market propositions behind them.
The VP acts as a senior advisor to Insurance growth leaders and C-suite clients. The role shapes strategy, sets the win themes and commercial constructs on strategic deals, and brings EXL's F&A, digital, data and analytics capabilities together into one client-facing narrative. The VP works closely with Sales, Account Management, Digital Solutions, Operations & Transitions, Data & Analytics and Finance.
Strategy and growth
- Own the Insurance F&A Solutioning OKRs and tie them directly to the Insurance growth strategy, pipeline targets and win-rate goals.
- Shape the Insurance F&A go-to-market agenda across Life, Annuities, Group, Retirements, Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Specialty, Workers' Compensation and Broker Management. Scan the value chain and identify white spaces, and build the investment case for new propositions.
- Partner with growth leaders on sole-sourced and proactive opportunities. Take domain propositions to market and build executive-level relationships with prospects and clients.
Pursuit and deal leadership
- Lead the end-to-end RFP/RFI/RFx process as deal owner for the most strategic bids.
- Lead deal governance: qualification (bid/no-bid), solution and pricing reviews, risk and deal-shaping calls, and approvals with Finance, Legal, Operations and Delivery leadership.
- Define win themes, differentiators and the commercial model: pricing constructs, outcome-linked and gain-share structures, transformation investments and benefit cases.
- Lead solution presentations, executive orals, POC demonstrations and client workshops, and build a simplified, outcome-led storyline that integrates multiple EXL capabilities against the client's business problem.
- Lead due diligence and transition-readiness assessments, including M&A and portfolio transactions where required.
Client enablement
- Support the existing client base by improving current solutions, identifying expansion and transformation opportunities, and enabling Account Management and Delivery with reusable solutions and proof points.
- Build reactive capability to refresh and improve existing client solutions based on delivery learnings and market shifts.
Thought leadership and market presence
- Direct the research and publication of industry POVs, benchmarks, case studies and analyst briefings on Life and P&C F&A. Represent EXL at industry forums, client events and analyst engagements.
- Maintain a structured knowledge base of solution documents, RFx responses, case studies and demos that is easy to access and reuse.
People and operating model
- Lead, mentor and performance-manage a team of direct and indirect solutioning leaders and contributors, including AVPs, senior managers and solution architects. Build the succession pipeline and a strong talent bench.
- Set the solutioning operating model: bid capacity planning, quality standards, reuse, win/loss reviews, and metrics reported to the Insurance leadership team.
- Collaborate across sales, account management, digital, data & analytics and operations & transitions to meet deadlines and quality standards under pressure.
- 15β20 years of experience, with at least 10 years in F&A (Insurance experience preferred), and with a track record in at least four of the following areas:
- Pre-sales, solutioning and bid management for large deals
- Strategic consulting or transformation advisory
- Digital transformation and intelligent automation (including GenAI)
- Data management and analytics
- Insurance operations leadership (P&L or large delivery organisation)
- Account management and client partnership
- Opportunity assessment, commercial modelling and deal structuring
- Proven record of leading and winning large, multi-year, multi-tower Insurance F&A or BPM deals (indicatively, deals of USD 10M+ annual contract value), with measurable win-rate outcomes.
- Experience leading teams of 15+ people (directly or indirectly), in a matrix environment.
- Established credibility with C-suite and senior finance, operations and technology leaders at US insurers, reinsurers and brokers.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Insurance, Computer Science or a related field.
- MBA from a top-tier business school (strongly preferred). A master's degree or equivalent senior executive education is a plus.
Skillset
- Strategic thinking: ability to translate market trends and client priorities into differentiated propositions, win themes and multi-year transformation roadmaps.
- Deal craft: expertise in commercial and pricing models (FTE, transaction, outcome-based, gain-share), benefit cases and risk-reward structuring.
- Deep understanding of the F&A processes across Life and P&C, including premium, claims, reinsurance, commissions, US GAAP, statutory (NAIC SAP) and regulatory accounting and reporting.
- Executive presence: compelling storytelling, negotiation and orals delivery to C-suite audiences.
- Strong business writing and a proven record of publishing research-backed industry POVs.
- Leadership: ability to build, coach and scale high-performing solutioning teams, and to influence senior stakeholders across a matrix organisation.
- Technology fluency: working knowledge of automation, AI/GenAI, analytics, and insurance and finance platforms (e.g., policy, claims and ERP systems) and how they combine into integrated solutions.
- Program and stakeholder management: ability to orchestrate multiple concurrent pursuits and meet stringent timelines under pressure.
- Highly proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Willingness to travel across the US for client meetings, orals and industry events, and occasionally to EXL global delivery locations.
Good to Have
- Deep knowledge of Insurance F&A across Life, Annuities, Group, Personal Auto and Home, Commercial Lines, Specialty and Workers' Compensation.
- Exposure to US GAAP (including LDTI), NAIC statutory accounting, SOX and state regulatory reporting requirements, and their effect on finance operating models. IFRS 17 familiarity is a plus for global clients.
- Relevant certifications such as CPA, CMA, CPCU, AIC, API, AU, ARe, CIP or FLMI.
- Familiarity with insurance and finance software (policy admin, claims, ERP, reconciliation tools), CRM systems and integration methodologies.
- Experience with strategic partnerships and alliances with technology vendors and analysts.
- Experience supporting M&A, carve-out or portfolio transition due diligence.
