Overview
TalentFish is casting a line for a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service Functional Specialist to join our client's application support team.
- This role will serve as a functional subject matter expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service, supporting the day-to-day processes used by field technicians, dispatchers, service managers, and finance teams.
- The consultant will help maintain and improve Field Service workflows, troubleshoot functional issues, gather business requirements, coordinate system enhancements, and ensure the platform effectively supports field operations.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting Dynamics 365 Field Service in a functional capacity and understands how work orders, scheduling, technician mobility, inventory, customer assets, and billing processes work together.
What You Bring to the Role. (Ideal Experience)
- 4+ years of experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE/CRM applications in a functional capacity.
- Strong hands-on experience with Dynamics 365 Field Service.
- Functional knowledge of:
- Work order management
- Resource scheduling and dispatch
- Schedule Board functionality
- Customer assets
- Agreements and preventive maintenance
- Inspections
- Technician mobile applications
- Products, inventory, labor, and service charges
- Billing and invoicing processes
- Experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into functional system solutions.
- Experience supporting incidents, service requests, system changes, and application enhancements.
- Experience conducting user acceptance testing and creating functional documentation.
- Strong understanding of how Field Service connects with finance, ERP, and operational processes.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse.
- Experience working with business users, technical teams, vendors, and application support partners.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, organization, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations or Field Service-to-Finance integrations.
- Background supporting field service, construction, manufacturing, HVAC, maintenance, utilities, or equipment-service operations.
- Experience working within an application managed services or enterprise application support environment.
- Familiarity with Azure integrations, Logic Apps, DevOps, Agile, or ITIL-based support processes.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service or Power Platform certification.

- Work orders, scheduling, mobile applications, customer assets, inventory, and billing processes operate accurately and efficiently.
- Business requirements are clearly documented and translated into practical system enhancements.
- System changes are properly tested, communicated, and adopted by users.
- Field Service and Finance data flows accurately between systems, with issues resolved collaboratively.
- Dynamics 365 Field Service continues to improve through effective use of standard platform capabilities.
What You'll Do. (Skills Used in this Position) Field Service Functional Support
- Serve as a functional point of contact for Dynamics 365 Field Service questions, issues, service requests, and system enhancements.
- Support business processes involving work orders, service activities, customer assets, preventive maintenance, inspections, agreements, and service history.
- Assist dispatchers and service teams with resource scheduling, technician assignments, schedule board functionality, and routing processes.
- Support field technicians using the Dynamics 365 Field Service mobile application.
- Troubleshoot functional system issues and coordinate with technical teams when development or integration support is required.
- Help ensure incidents, requests, and enhancements are addressed within established service-level expectations.
Business Process and System Improvement
- Partner with field operations, service management, finance, IT, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and identify process improvements.
- Gather and document functional requirements for system enhancements and configuration changes.
- Translate business needs into clear user stories, process flows, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Configure and maintain appropriate Field Service functionality using standard Dynamics 365 and Power Platform capabilities.
- Evaluate existing processes and recommend practical improvements that increase efficiency, data quality, user adoption, and customer service.
- Support ongoing application optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Testing, Training, and Documentation
- Develop test scenarios and coordinate functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.
- Validate that system changes meet business requirements before deployment.
- Create and maintain process documentation, job aids, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide training and ongoing support to field technicians, dispatchers, service managers, and other system users.
- Assist users with adopting new functionality, processes, and system updates.
Finance and Application Integration
- Support workflows between Dynamics 365 Field Service and Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.
- Work with finance stakeholders on processes involving service charges, labor, materials, expenses, invoicing, and cost tracking.
- Help validate that work order and service information flows accurately into downstream financial processes.
- Coordinate with technical and integration teams to troubleshoot data or transaction issues between systems.
- Support integrations involving Dataverse, Power Platform, Azure services, ERP applications, and other business systems.
Compensation and Employment
This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. The expected hourly rate for this position is $50 - $70 per hour W2, depending on experience and qualifications. This role also qualifies for comprehensive benefits such as health insurance and paid time off. TalentFish is committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity.
