Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with extensive healthcare provider claims experience to join our Enterprise Data & Analytics team. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing scalable data integration and data warehousing solutions that support critical reporting, analytics, and operational initiatives.

The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in healthcare provider claims data with strong technical skills in Snowflake, DBT, SQL, and modern cloud-based data engineering practices. This individual will play a key role in supporting enterprise analytics, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives by delivering reliable, high-quality data solutions.

Please Note: Extensive experience working with provider claims data in a healthcare payer environment is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT processes supporting enterprise data warehouse and analytic initiatives.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines that ingest, transform, and integrate large-scale healthcare provider claims data from multiple source systems.
  • Develop and maintain data models using Snowflake and DBT.
  • Support data integration, transformation, and reporting initiatives involving provider claims, reimbursement, and healthcare operational data.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and data consumers to understand provider claims workflows and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across enterprise data assets.
  • Support the continued growth and optimization of the organization's Snowflake-based Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines, data integrations, and warehouse processes.
  • Conduct code reviews and solution assessments to ensure adherence to architecture standards and best practices.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies to improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, sprint planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support change management, release management, and ITIL-aligned operational processes.
  • Contribute to the design of reliable, automated, and scalable data engineering solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL/ELT development, and Enterprise Data Warehousing.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working with healthcare provider claims data in a payer environment.
  • Strong understanding of provider claims processing, adjudication, reimbursement methodologies, provider networks, and healthcare claims data structures.
  • Experience supporting healthcare analytics, reporting, operational, or regulatory initiatives using provider claims data.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing data solutions using Snowflake.
  • 2+ years of experience building and managing data transformation frameworks using DBT.
  • Advanced SQL development experience within modern cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience with Snowflake technologies including:
    • Snowpipe
    • SnowSQL
    • Snowsight
    • Data Streams
  • Experience supporting Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and Data Lake environments.
  • Strong understanding of traditional and cloud-based data warehousing architectures.
  • Experience utilizing Git for source control and version management.
  • Experience working within Agile and Scrum delivery environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to business and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting healthcare payer organizations.
  • Experience working with medical claims, provider reimbursement, provider network, and payer operations data.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services and cloud-native data engineering solutions.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
  • Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts.
  • Experience performing data profiling, data quality analysis, and data validation activities.
  • Familiarity with data governance, release management, and ITIL processes.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale analytics and reporting environments.
  • Experience supporting Epic-related data integrations and reporting.
