Senior Field Application Engineer - MPU & Embedded AI
Location: Austin, Texas OR Boston, Massachusetts
Pay: $130,000 - $190,000
Duration: Full Time, Direct Hire
Role Overview
This position supports MPU and Embedded AI opportunities across healthcare and industrial customers throughout the U.S. The role combines embedded Linux expertise, Edge AI technologies, proof-of-concept development, customer support, technical sales support, and system-level architecture guidance. The focus is on helping customers successfully deploy AI-enabled embedded processing solutions.
Key Responsibilities

• Support healthcare and industrial customer designs.
• Lead proof-of-concept and solution demonstrations to secure design-ins.
• Drive technical design wins.
• Provide advanced embedded Linux support, including for kernel and user-space environments.
• Support MPU and Edge AI deployments.
• Review schematics and custom board designs, providing design recommendations.
• Conduct customer and internal training on new technologies and product features.
• Assist product roadmap decisions by synthesizing customer and competitive insights.
• Support board bring-up and debug activities.
• Develop system-level application expertise.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in development engineering or applications support for microprocessor-based embedded systems. A background in semiconductor FAE or comparable technical customer support is required, with at least 4+ years in embedded systems.
Technical Skills:

• Embedded Linux expertise (kernel, user space, U-Boot).
• Strong embedded software development background, including C and C++.
• Experience with ARM Cortex A/M/R architecture and SoC-based embedded systems.
• Knowledge of hardware interfaces such as Ethernet, MIPI, UART, LPDDR4/5, and PCIe.
• Understanding of AI/ML deployment concepts and workflows.
• Customer-facing communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct Edge AI implementation experience, including familiarity with Tensorflow Lite or ONNX.
• Experience with NXP i.MX platforms or NXP ARA2xx.
• Knowledge of camera pipelines, graphics, and video subsystems.
• Experience with NPU acceleration.
• Background in healthcare devices or industrial automation.
• Experience delivering technical training.
