About Caliber Therapies
Caliber Therapies provides specialized therapeutic and community support services that empower individuals of all abilities to live meaningful, independent, and fulfilling lives. Our Life Skills & Community Support (LSC) program focuses on helping individuals develop practical life skills, increase community participation, and build confidence through person-centered support.
Position Summary
The Life Skills & Community Support (LSC) Professional works one-on-one with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults in their homes and communities to promote independence, self-confidence, and meaningful participation in everyday life. This is a community-based, non-clinical position designed to help individuals achieve their personal goals through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on support.
LSC Professionals assist individuals in developing skills that improve daily living, social engagement, communication, community integration, and overall quality of life while encouraging independence in a safe and supportive environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Build positive, professional relationships with clients and their support systems.
- Assist individuals in developing and practicing independent living skills.
- Support participation in community outings and recreational activities.
- Teach and reinforce communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and social skills.
- Assist clients in identifying and achieving person-centered goals.
- Encourage healthy lifestyle habits, physical activity, and emotional wellness.
- Support participation in volunteer opportunities, educational activities, employment readiness, and community involvement when appropriate.
- Promote self-advocacy, confidence, and independence while providing the least restrictive support necessary.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation according to company and funding source requirements.
- Communicate professionally with caregivers, case managers, and the Caliber Therapies team.
- Follow all company policies regarding safety, confidentiality, professionalism, and mandatory reporting.
This Position Does NOT Include
Life Skills & Community Support services are non-clinical and are not intended to replace attendant care, nursing, or therapy services. LSC Professionals do not:
- Provide personal care (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, grooming).
- Administer medications or perform medical procedures.
- Perform transfers or provide hands-on physical assistance requiring specialized training.
- Complete household chores for the client (rather than teaching the client how to perform them).
- Provide transportation unrelated to approved community goals.
- Perform home maintenance, yard work, construction, or automotive repairs.
- Provide childcare, respite care, or supervision without active goal-directed programming.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
- Ability to pass all required criminal background checks and any additional screenings required by funding sources.
- Ability to work independently in home and community settings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to complete electronic documentation.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in Recreation Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Education, Human Services, Special Education, Kinesiology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Public Health, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, autism, behavioral health needs, physical disabilities, traumatic brain injury, older adults, or veterans.
- Experience providing community-based services, coaching, mentoring, teaching, or direct support.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely participate in community activities in various environments.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, and climb stairs as needed during client activities.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as client goals require.
- Ability to travel between client locations throughout the assigned service area.
