Job Title: SRE - Nexus.corp /SonarQube Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 16 Months
No C2C allowed
Job Description
Position Summary
Organization: IT — Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) / Developer Experience Platform (DEP)
Reports To: Engineering Manager; works alongside Nexus Compliance/HA Platform Engineer (India)
Seniority: Level 3 (Senior)
About the Role
Client is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to take ownership of two enterprise services: Nexus.corp (artifact repository serving hundreds of developers) and SonarQube (code quality platform covering an enterprise-scale codebase). These services are critical to the client''s software development lifecycle and are being elevated to dedicated ownership as part of a broader platform maturity initiative.
Your allocation will be approximately 80% Nexus.corp and 20% SonarQube. You will own day-to-day operations, upgrades, security compliance, and monitoring. You will work closely with a counterpart in India who focuses on compliance and high-availability build-out as Nexus.corp undergoes a criticality raise.
What You''ll Do
- Own day-to-day operations of Nexus.corp and SonarQube — be the accountable engineer for both services
- Perform version upgrades and system patching for both platforms
- Manage Nexus IQ Server integration, Repository Firewall, and malware detection
- Automate secret rotation (transitioning from manual to AAP-automated)
- Migrate monitoring from SumoLogic to Datadog — dashboards, alerts, SLI/SLO
- Remediate Qualys vulnerabilities and close compliance gaps
- Handle SNOW tickets — repository creation, permissions, proxy configuration, troubleshooting
- Coordinate with the India-based Compliance/HA engineer on criticality transition work
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for both services
- Create and maintain operational runbooks and documentation
- Participate in on-call rotation
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or production operations
- Nexus Repository Manager administration (or equivalent artifact repository: JFrog Artifactory, AWS CodeArtifact)
- Linux systems administration (RHEL)
- Scripting proficiency — Python and/or Bash
- Monitoring and observability — Datadog, Prometheus, or equivalent
- CI/CD pipeline experience (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent)
- Incident management — on-call, incident response, root cause analysis
- Strong documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Sonatype IQ Server and Repository Firewall experience
- SonarQube administration
- Enterprise compliance frameworks (ESS)
- Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform)
- AWS infrastructure operations
Key Stakeholders
- ALM/DEP — Platform ownership, priority alignment
- Engineering teams — Hundreds of developers relying on artifact services
- InfoSec — Compliance, vulnerability remediation, malware response
- Sonatype — Vendor support and product guidance
- PCO/Ops — Infrastructure and networking
This Role Is NOT
- A compliance-only role — the India counterpart handles the resilience build-out
- Nexus SaaS operations — that is handled by a separate team member
- A temporary engagement — these services need a long-term dedicated owner
