Job description

Job Description :

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to provide end-to-end architectural leadership across a complex, interconnected technology ecosystem supporting digital commerce, business operations, and enterprise integrations. The role serves as a strategic bridge between business stakeholders, product teams, project management, engineering, infrastructure, data, and security teams—translating business objectives into scalable, secure, maintainable technical solutions.

The environment includes multiple applications, APIs, databases, AWS cloud services, and third-party integrations. The Solutions Architect will assess the broader ecosystem, identify gaps and risks, guide architectural decisions, and help ensure that scope, dependencies, security, governance, and delivery expectations remain aligned.

This is an architecture leadership and technical oversight role. Hands-on coding and day-to-day software development are not required; however, the candidate must have sufficient technical depth to evaluate designs, challenge decisions, assess integration approaches, and provide clear technical direction to engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Stakeholder Alignment

•             Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, project managers, and technical teams to clarify business objectives, requirements, constraints, and expected outcomes.

•             Translate business needs into solution options, technical requirements, architecture designs, and implementation roadmaps.

•             Facilitate discussions across business and technology teams; explain trade-offs, challenge assumptions constructively, and build alignment on decisions.

Solution Architecture & Technical Design

•             Design and assess end-to-end solutions spanning applications, APIs, databases, AWS services, and third-party systems.

•             Document architecture diagrams, system interactions, integration flows, nonfunctional requirements, key assumptions, and architecture decision records.

•             Evaluate scalability, reliability, performance, availability, maintainability, and cost; identify technical debt and opportunities to simplify the ecosystem.

API, Application & Integration Architecture

•             Assess API contracts, service dependencies, authentication, versioning, error handling, data exchange, and integration reliability.

•             Recommend suitable integration patterns, including synchronous and asynchronous communication, messaging, and event-driven approaches where appropriate.

•             Identify downstream impacts, bottlenecks, single points of failure, and cross-application dependencies before changes are implemented.

AWS Cloud, Security & Governance

•             Review AWS architecture involving compute, networking, storage, databases, connectivity, deployment, and operational requirements.

•             Ensure designs consider security by design, least privilege, identity and access management, encryption, secrets management, logging, monitoring, and data protection.

•             Partner with security, infrastructure, DevOps, and governance teams to ensure adherence to enterprise standards, cloud policies, and applicable compliance requirements.

•             Consider resilience, high availability, disaster recovery, backup, capacity, and cloud cost optimization.

Gap Analysis, Risk & Scope Management

•             Assess current-state architecture and perform gap, impact, dependency, and risk analyses against business requirements and target-state capabilities.

•             Identify technical, operational, integration, data, security, and delivery risks; document mitigations and escalate material concerns.

•             Help define and validate project scope, assumptions, technical boundaries, dependencies, deliverables, and acceptance criteria.

•             Evaluate proposed changes for downstream effects, feasibility, complexity, cost, and alignment with approved objectives.

Delivery Oversight & Technical Leadership

•             Work with project managers, engineering leads, QA, DevOps, data, and infrastructure teams to track architectural dependencies, decisions, risks, and blockers.

•             Review solution designs and implementation approaches at key milestones to verify alignment with approved architecture and governance.

•             Identify deviations, assess their implications, and ensure exceptions are documented and reviewed through the appropriate process.

•             Contribute to design reviews, release readiness, operational handover, and post-implementation reviews as needed.

Data, Reliability & Operations

•             Evaluate database design, data flows, data ownership, integrity, retention, access controls, and upstream/downstream dependencies.

•             Ensure nonfunctional requirements cover performance, availability, observability, monitoring, logging, recovery objectives, and operational support.

•             Recommend architectural improvements where recurring incidents, performance constraints, or operational inefficiencies reveal systemic issues.

Required Qualifications

•             12+ years of overall experience in IT, software engineering, application architecture, solution design, or related technology disciplines.

•             3+ years of experience specifically in a Solutions Architect role, with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end solution design and architectural decisions.

•             Strong understanding of application architecture, APIs, system integrations, distributed systems, databases, and cloud-based solutions.

•             Experience with AWS architecture and related considerations for security, scalability, availability, resilience, performance, and cost.

•             Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and conduct gap, impact, and risk analysis.

•             Experience assessing scope, technical dependencies, design options, implementation approaches, and delivery risks across cross-functional teams.

•             Knowledge of enterprise security, identity and access management, data protection, architecture governance, and technology standards.

•             Ability to create and review architecture diagrams, solution design documents, integration specifications, and architecture decision records.

•             Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

•             Hands-on coding is not required; candidates must nevertheless be technically credible and able to review and challenge detailed architecture and design decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

•             Experience architecting or supporting large-scale e-commerce or digital commerce platforms, especially those with complex integrations and high-volume business transactions.

•             Exposure to commerce capabilities such as product catalogs, pricing, inventory, order management, payments, fulfillment, and third-party supplier or partner integrations.

•             Experience with multi-application environments connecting internal business systems, external partners, APIs, databases, and cloud services.

•             Familiarity with microservices, event-driven architecture, API management, cloud-native design, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.

•             Experience with enterprise architecture governance, architecture review boards, technology roadmaps, legacy modernization, or technical debt reduction.

•             AWS architecture certification is an advantage.

Success Measures

•             Business requirements, scope, and technical implementation remain aligned.

•             Architectural decisions are clear, documented, secure, and consistent across applications and integrations.

•             Risks, gaps, dependencies, and delivery blockers are identified early and managed effectively.

•             Solutions meet appropriate security, governance, performance, scalability, resilience, and maintainability expectations.

•             Engineering teams receive clear architectural direction and projects avoid preventable rework caused by design gaps.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate combines broad IT experience with proven solution architecture leadership, strong business acumen, and the ability to oversee complex technology delivery. They can see the full system landscape, evaluate trade-offs, communicate with stakeholders at different levels, and help ensure that architecture decisions translate into secure, reliable, business-aligned outcomes. Experience with large-scale e-commerce platforms is preferred, but transferable experience from other complex, transaction-oriented digital platforms may also be relevant.
