Job Description

Apex Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Test Analyst for a long-term enterprise technology modernization engagement in West Sacramento, California.

The selected consultant will support testing and quality assurance activities for a large enterprise pension administration platform. This is a senior-level, hands-on position requiring extensive experience with test planning, requirements traceability, defect management, Application Lifecycle Management tools, SQL, database testing, and large enterprise system implementations.

This position follows a hybrid work arrangement. The consultant must be available to work onsite in West Sacramento approximately two to three days per week and must be able to support additional onsite work when required by the client. This is not a fully remote opportunity.
Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and traceability matrices.
• Review business, functional, technical, and service requirements.
• Coordinate business, functional, and technical testing activities.
• Support System Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing, regression testing, interface testing, batch testing, and end-to-end testing.
• Lead or participate in defect triage activities.
• Manage defects through validation, prioritization, resolution, retesting, escalation, and closure.
• Use JAMA or a comparable ALM tool to manage requirements, test cases, defects, test execution, and project traceability.
• Write SQL queries to identify test data and validate application, interface, batch, and database results.
• Produce test execution metrics, defect trends, burn-down charts, and status reports.
• Conduct root-cause analysis, impact analysis, gap analysis, process analysis, and risk analysis.
• Review system designs, technical specifications, and vendor deliverables.
• Communicate testing progress, defects, risks, issues, and dependencies to business and technical stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate testing documentation and audit-ready project records.
• Provide testing documentation and knowledge transfer.

Required Qualifications

• At least 10 years of Test Analyst experience within the last 12 years.
• Experience supporting large enterprise implementations or legacy application modernization.
• At least 10 years within the last 12 years developing or reviewing test strategies, test plans, test cases, requirements, transition plans, and traceability matrices.
• At least 8 years within the last 12 years using JAMA or a comparable ALM or enterprise test management tool.
• At least 8 years within the last 12 years performing hands-on SQL and large-database testing.
• Strong defect management and defect triage leadership experience.
• Experience coordinating business, functional, and technical testing teams.
• Experience with SIT, UAT, regression, interface, batch, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience producing test execution metrics, defect trends, and burn-down reporting.
• Ability to provide three verifiable professional references.
• Ability to work onsite in West Sacramento approximately two to three days per week and more frequently if required.
• Understanding that this is a hybrid position and is not fully remote.

Preferred Qualifications

• Public pension or retirement system experience.
• Pension administration or retirement software implementation experience.
• Benefits administration, payroll, financial, tax, collections, or receivables system experience.
• California state or local government experience.
• Five or more years of test automation experience.
• Experience with Selenium, Cucumber, or ROBOT Framework.
• Current residence in the Sacramento or West Sacramento area.
