• Contract: W2 only, 12-month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time with either the client or CEI

Overview
The Senior Firewall Security Analyst will support firewall security operations, including reviewing and assessing firewall rules for security risks and compliance. The role involves monitoring network and cybersecurity threats, troubleshooting network issues, and implementing security improvements. The position requires shift work and minimal supervision, with responsibilities centered on maintaining security standards and supporting incident response efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing review of network systems to detect access, intrusion, and compliance risks.
• Investigate security events, perform root-cause analysis, and track incidents related to network access and cybersecurity.
• Support firewall rule review, tuning, and configuration changes to mitigate risks and enhance security posture.
• Interpret, review, and analyze firewall rules to identify misconfigurations, security risks, and compliance gaps.
• Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams to ensure secure firewall changes with minimal business impact.
• Maintain documentation related to firewall policies, standards, and review procedures.
• Support incident response by analyzing firewall logs and rule behavior for potential threats.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of related work experience in cybersecurity or network security.
• Deep knowledge of enterprise firewall platforms, including Cisco ASA and Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
• Hands-on experience managing Palo Alto Panorama for centralized firewall policy management.
• Familiarity with DLP, SIEM, NIDS/NIPS, HIDS/HIPS, and endpoint protection suites.
• Strong understanding of firewall hardening, segmentation, and least privilege network design.
• Ability to interpret complex firewall rule sets and translate findings into security recommendations.
• Experience with firewall management tools such as FireMon or AlgoSec.
• Knowledge of NERC CIP compliance standards and related certifications is preferred.
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and support fast-changing business environments.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree required

Preferred Skills

• NERC CIP Compliance Analysis Certification, System Operator Certification, GIAC Critical Infrastructure Protection Security Certification.
• Knowledge of testing tools such as Windows automation tools.
• Experience supporting disaster recovery and security threat mitigation.
